This thread seems to have originated with a query about the various power connection options for a Pi 3B and an Allo Boss v1.2 DAC. I have a similar question with regard to the Allo Boss v1.2 DAC with a Pi 4B:
The power connection options seem to be:
1. Single power supply connected to Pi4
2. Single power supply connected to DAC.
3. Separate power supplies for Pi and DAC.
I think most people seem to advocate powering the DAC separately using as high a quality power supply as is affordable. However, as someone who is 'getting on' in years and partially deaf I'm not sure I would hear the difference. So, initially at least, I would like to experiment using the standard power supply that comes with the 4B. Is it better to connect the single power supply to the Pi or to the DAC?
