I have this screen on a Raspberry PI. I believe if you follow the script Adafruit provides, you can install it on MoOde and set it up so it shows the same thing on HDMI and the small screen. That way it will work on a larger screen if available as well as on the small screen.
I have used it with all sorts of applications, like Navit, and it has always worked. Whether or not you will be able to navigate the MoOde UI effectively is questionable--but probably worth testing.
