Maybe librespot crashed?
IIRC it does this if you don't have a Spotify Premium account. Code: pgrep -l librespot

looks like you are right. pgrep doesnt show any librespot process running. What to do ?

For some reason minidlnad is always active - even though Upnp/DLNA are not active. It is sucking up some cpu time.

The MPD log reports each file that was successfully indexed. Examine it after running Library update.
