Problem: MPD Error starting Moode (ALSA equal)
#1
Hello everybody, i'm Marco from Italy

first of all I want to thank Tim and his team for the fantastic job.

I have a problem at the first start of moode, every time the error you see in the attached picture, the only way to solve it is to turn off the Raspberry p2b and DAC and restart both.
I tried to reboot Moode from PC but it does not change, the only way described above.
I use Hifi Digi+ as transport to Breeze Audio Dac (Saber 9018).
The problem also occurred with earlier versions of Moode, currently i use 4.4
I tried searching the forum but can't find a similar problem, can anyone help me?

Many thanks, have a good day

Update:
i tried with another Rpi and DAC (hat instead the previous external Breeze Audio), connected via RCA instead coaxial to amplifier, use same SD but same issue and error.
After this i'm pretty sure that's not a problem with Rpi>DAC, any suggestion?

Thanks

Thanks Tim.
Yes but nothing's changed, a screenshot of log files can you be useful?

Unlikely, but could be a problem of sd card?

The symptom suggests something external to moOde software, especially since it's an I2S board which would be directly attached to the Pi 40pin header and thus powered up even before Linux or moOde starts loading.

You might want to try loading moOde 5 RC0 on a new SdCard.

Hi Tim,
i tried with Moode 5 mounted in new SDcard, tested at work LAN (not at home as usual) with another Rpi and Hifiberry DAC+ (only for video test, no end connected) same issue  Huh

Hi,

I see u have the Graphic EQ on.

Code:
20190326 094152 worker: MPD output 4 ALSA graphic eq (on)

I'm able to repro the ALSA error. Its caused by some new MPD / ALSA settings that are exposed in the MPD Config screen namely the ALSA auto-format =  No setting which conflicts with the EQ's and other ALSA virtual devices.

Open MPD Config and set ALSA auto-format to "Yes" and see if that resolves the issue.
