This my first encounter with moode, I used Libreelec for my  general media playing purposes until now.
To be able experiment with the various options I use PINN to create bootable environment.
So moode has been installed that way, a 8.0.x version is running.
The problem, that whatever configuration I try no sound is outputted. The Output Device is recognized, tried every available Volume Types.
Name I2S Device/DT Overlay is 'none'. Tried both Output ModeS. All are to no avail.

I run out of ideas what else I can try, so here I am for asking advice.

Your nest bet is to install the latest version of moOde on a dedicated uSD card using the official Raspberry Pi Imager. Refer to the "SECURITY AND OPERATING SYSTEM (OS) IMAGE" section of the Setup guide for info.

Yes, I am following that doc. While I do not expect PINN to have an effect on the result of installation, I will try a separate install with the newest version available, and that will hopefully do have.

Persistence pays off :-)
I kept updating from within moode (so nice to have this feature!) until at 8.2.0 the sound has arrived!
Now it's gonna be a matter of patience to get to the latest.

I don't know if this is relevant, but in my log it writes "0" instead of "70" (weird, though)
Sorry for the silly question... I'm not familiar with the SMSL SU-1 but, is your DAC configured to play what's incoming on the USB input?

I just tried that knob when got sound with 8.2.0. It did have an effect.
And yes, the USB input is selected on the DAC.

I had this after in-place updating to the latest Moode.

Configure / Audio

Go down to ALSA Options and click "save" next to the ALSA volume level.

In my case, suddenly sound emanated from my speakers.
