Pi Zero W installation
#11
It would still be nice to know if your issue stemmed from the edge case I identified.

In any case, Tim's "potential fix" has apparently eliminated the edge case. I just completed successfully an install of (patched) moOde 6.4 using the same CRLF-tainted moodecfg.txt file that had caused a previous install of unpatched moOde 6.4 to misbehave.

In the past I have set up Moode on another pi2 or pi3, then transferred the SD card to the W and it worked fine. Not sure of more recent Moode versions.

Having just done this, here are the steps:

flash microSD card with moode
insert in zeroW
power it up
wait a few minutes
check the wifi on your phone or PC, the Moode network will show up
select it and enter the password which is moodeaudio. your phone or pc will connect to it.
open browser, enter moode.local, hit go
now you are in the web UI for moode
select configure from the M menu top right
click network
Under the Wireless (WiFi) area, enter your home wifi SSID and password. Click Save at the top.
Reboot by going to the M menu top right, down to Power, and restart.
zero will reboot and connect to your home wifi
your phone or PC that was connected to the Moode wifi before will lose that connection and probably fall back to your usual home wifi setting
open browser, enter moode.local, bob's your uncle.

It works surprisingly well. I put together a fully wireless rig today with a 10,000mAh power bank and the zeroW doing wifi and bluetooth. As a 100% wireless streamer, it works incredibly well, all for well under $50.

Nice instructions.

One caveat - if the OP is trying to access moOde from a stock Android phone or tablet, mDNS isn't available to the browser so it can't resolve the hostname "moode.local". In this case, try the numeric IP address 172.24.1.1 instead.

And how did you knew about my uncle Bob?

Hi,
How can I change RPiZeroW's SSID and password when I in range of a new wifi network?
Which file should I edit? Should I use loop or there are other (simpler solutions)?

I can move the post to FAQ and Guides section.

Coolness for offering to help with dev :-) Take a look at the repo and see if there is anything of interest to you. There's not much C code in moOde but C expertise is essential for contributing to MPD enhancements (C/C++) and modifying audio drivers, plugins, etc to enhance their capabilities. @bitlab has done a fair bit of this already :-)

Linux expertise can help us make the OS better so feel free to see what might be possible.

Shoot me an email :-)
