Cloning a microSD card?
#1
Apologies if this has been asked before, but a search of the forum did not turn up anything that looked relevant.

I'm currently running moOde 6.4.0 on a Pi 2B 1GB, but I have just ordered myself a Pi 4B 4GB. Would it be feasible to take an image of the current microSD card and write it to a new card for use with the new Pi when it arrives, and avoid the configuration steps?

Many thanks.

This is an operating system question. Here's answers for three different ones https://beebom.com/how-clone-raspberry-p...nux-macos/

These aren't the only ways but the others are just a web-search query away.

Personally, I find that cloning and then adjusting for the new system (like new hostname, etc.) is just as time consuming as starting fresh with a new image.

Kent

Hi Kent,

Many thanks for the guidance on the methods and the opinion.

Given your experience on this forum, I'll follow your advice and start afresh.

Cheers.
