Solved: OMV NAS Samba MPD scan restarting
#11
Your result only suggests that "MPD doesn't like multichannel wav files". There is an equal likelihood that the files are malformed in some way that causes the library that MPD uses to read the file to crash.

You could try posting the issue in the MPD Git repo (I would suggest searching the issue list first)
https://github.com/MusicPlayerDaemon/MPD/issues

MPD maintainer will require supporting information for example

1. MPD -V
2. Section of verbose MPD log that shows any errors or indication that scan has stopped and MPD has crashed.

I suppose you could also put an mpdignore file in the directories containing the suspect files. This would tell MPD to ignore them during its scan.

it happens to every file with the same format, not just that specific one and i think they are OK, since i'm able to play them in various audio players without issues.

i will have a look at MPD Git repo.

Quoting from the MPD User manual

Quote:To exclude a file from the update, create a file called .mpdignore in its parent directory. Each line of that file may contain a list of shell wildcards. Matching files in the current directory and all subdirectories are excluded.

yes, excluding the multichannel files extensions on .mpdignore is working.
