Solved: Issue with 'browse by album' view not showing correct album thumbnail
#1
Hi Tim ,

I having a little problem with the thumbnails on the "browse by album" view not matching up with the album covers , I have tried to regenerate the thumbnails but it suggests only 2 are done and finishes the regen . The album covers do show in the player view and also when you show track list .

Also I have a similar problem with radio station thumbnails showing correctly in "browse by RadioStation" view but in player view it only shows certain ones some just show the moode logo .

I've attached images to show the issue.

any ideas of what the issue might be ?

apart from appearance everything plays as it should and ive just udated to the 6.5.2
thanks for all your hard work on the project

In Library Config

1. Clear the Library tag cache
2. Regenerate the thumbnail cache

Then look in the Moode log for any errors.
Code:
moodeutl -l

Unless some permissions changed on the location of the music files, I'd say possibly the in-place update did not complete or something odd like that.

The only reasonable option at this point would be to start with a fresh 6.5.2 image and then retest.

Hi Tim ,

Ive just finished setting up a fresh image of 6.5.2 and I still end up with the same results it must be my setup , because it randomly chose the same thumbnail it chose before  to cover each album .

the same issue is present with radio stations not showing the thumbnail for certain stations, strangely its got to be something to do with stations that have a few channels and so I use the same jpeg for each channel. one sometimes two of the channels show the thumbnail in the player view but the other channels dont .

Its really not a problem as all the functionality works , if it was a quick fix I would investigate further but its no drama if it doesnt display as it should .

How are you adding the stations?

I am seeing the same behaviour, but only on occasions when I have multiple albums in the same folder - see attachment - I have the whole set of David Bowie LPs in one folder and the albums have the correct metadata, e.g. cover art, album name etc. In the album view, I see one cover art for all the albums, but when I select an album and look at it, it shows the correct cover art, as in the picture.

For information, the install is 652, installed from burning an image onto an SD card.

Its not really a problem, Im just reporting that I can repeat the issue - hope this is useful.

The thumbnail generator honors the cover search priority in Library options. In the case where the option is set to "Embedded images the generator extracts the image from the last song in the album directory and makes a thumbnail image whose file name is a hash of the album directory path.

When an album is clicked in the Tag or Album view the code uses the first song in the Album directory to make a path that's submitted to the cover art extractor.

Normally this is not a problem for embedded images since all songs in a given album directory will have the same cover image. There are some exceptions for example Nine Inch Nails - The Slip where each track has a different cool image :-)

so maybe this is my issue , all my music is just in one folder , no sub folders at all (messy I know but originally this was just storage only until I made the speakers).
Maybe I should tidy up my Nextcloud storage and put all albums into individual directories .

I will report back if this sorts my issue.

Thanks guys
