Problem: Installation of the Moode Player
#1
Hi there,

I'm a beginner in setting up moode player in my hardware, Pi 4 8gb.

Please pardon my ignore.

May I know with the latest software of moode 6.5.2., do i still need to install Raspbian Stretch Lite prior to booting moode software?

If yes, is the Raspberry Pi OS (32 bits) release on 2020.05.27  under https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspberry-pi-os/ similar to Raspbian Stretch Lite?

Your advice is highly appreciated.

From http://moodeaudio.org/ :

<< ....  Download moOde

The download is a ready-to-use ISO image. Simply write it to an SD Card, boot up your Raspberry Pi and then view the Setup guide to get started. Additional information on using moOde is provided in the player via Quick Help which is available on the Main Menu.  .... >>

Hi Mike,

So, I can bypass the step for downloading the raspbian stretch lite to build moode as indicated in some blogs.

Hi there,

I hit problems for installing Moode OS.

I followed the instruction, flashing the software into a sdcard and then inserted into my Pi4 (8gb RAM).

After i switched on the Pi, it run some scripts for a about 5 seconds and after that the screen turned blank. i waited for 5 hours, the screen was still blank.

I tried again but same thing happened.

I then tried the duo SD and USBsd indirect method with downloading the raspberry stretch lit. After inserted the USDsd, pi started build step 2 n 3 and thereafter the screen turned blank too. I waited for 5 hours but nothing happening.

When i rebooted it, it happened like method 1, running some scripts for 5 second and turned blank.

Can somebody help?

Regards,

I heard that Volumio OS does not support Pi 4 (8G ram) at the moment. They are currently working on it.

How about Moode Player?

Moode is a Headless player. It does not appear 'on your screen' by default.

Once the scripts run you can access it from another device on the same network...phone, tablet, laptop, Pc... by typing one of several methods into your web-browser search bar

NOTE: Use http://moode, or  moode.local or moode's IP address, whichever works on your network.
Typically Android OS will only work with IP address.

When you have done that and can view the Moode web page post back and we can instruct you as to how to show it on the screen attached to the Pi.

Hi Drone7,

I connect my pi to my TV screen via hdmi.
May I know how to display it to my pi connecting tv?

On your (phone) screen..top right is an 'm'  Tap that for a drop-down menu and navigate, selecting as you go, thus..

m>Configure>System>(scroll down to..)Local Display  and switch the Local UI display to On then Set

Restart your Pi and you should now have the Moode interface on your TV screen.

You will still need some way to navigate Moode even though it shows on your TV.
Again, phone, tablet, laptop, PC will all work at the same time as your TV or perhaps you may be happy with a mouse plugged to the Pi.
There is a setting in Local Display to turn the Mouse cursor on..:-)

Hi Drone7,
I managed to get it displaying on TV. Thank you so much.
I used handphone browser to remotely control moode player but it was so laggy and unresponsive.
Is there any android app can remotely control moode player faultlessly?

Hi there ,
My bad. Just discovered that the slow response was due to my low speed micro sd card, v10. Min requirement of the sd card must be v30, u3. Once I changed it, it worked flawlessly.
One more issue that I encountered now is I cannot add my nas to the library. I have tried to create it several times via SMB or nfs but it keep on saying that share cannot be blank.
May I know how to resolve it?
