Problem: Spotify connect keeps dropping
#1
I installed moode 4.3 on my raspberry pi with Allo DigiOne.  I opened the spotify web browser on my PC.  I used Spotify app on my iphone to select moode.  I'm using Chrome.  It worked fine for a few hours, and then it just drodped the moode connection.  Moode doesn't show up in the Spotify connect list anymore.

I rebooted everything, and then moode shows up in Spotify connect again, but now it only plays for a few seconds before it disappears.  This is very repeatable.

Another weird thing -  Moode.local on the PC says "Spotify Active" no matter what I do.  I can play a radio station, but the Playback screen in moode.local player still says "Spotify active".  Radio stations play but the volume is really low and I can't adjust it in the player.  moode is very confused...

What's going on???

Thanks,

Rick

When the issue occurs what is the output from the command below?

Code:
pgrep -l librespot

@PhotonHerder

I'm curious why you opened the Spotify web browser on your PC and used the Spotify app on your iPhone to select moOde. Either software solution will work on its own. Why both?

FYI - In addition to iOS and Android apps, there are also downloadable Spotify clients for Windows, Mac OS X, and (unsupported) Linux.

Kent

PS - great screen name!

I have the same problem.

Aha.

Spotify has filled your filesystem with its cache. This was a problem identified a while ago in another thread. Probably it will turn out to be the same for @PhotonHerder.

As a temporary fix, whenever this occurs with Spotify, ssh into your moOde player and manually try the cmd below

Code:
sudo rm -rf /var/local/www/spotify_cache/files

The upcoming moOde r4.4 release contains a permanent fix.

Kent

Thumbs Up
Great! Thank you TheOldPresbyope

This fix actually solves two of my problems - Spotify play and the inability to update the software online.

PS - great screen name!

Because I thought I had to have the web player open...

OK, I used the command to clear the cache, and it seem to be working.  Thanks!

PhotonHerding is what I do for a living, so it seemed appropriate. Smile

Hmmm... It worked for a couple days, then did the same thing again, but this time clearing the cache didn't fix it.  I tried it several times, rebooted the pi several times....  Help!  Smile

Post more information about your issue for example:

- has librespot crashed?
- did your network connection drop?
- any errors in syslog?
- how much free disk space is left?
- etc
