MPD error - Failed to open "ALSA default" [alsa]
#1
What does this mean? Now whenever I try to play anything I get this error:

MPD error
Failed to open "ALSA default" [alsa]
Failed to open ALSA device "hw0,0" No
such file or directory

Does that mean the DAC HAT is not working? (Failed to open ALSA device)
Or does that mean the SDcard has lost data? (No such file or directory)

I never had this problem with the other pi with older Boss DAC

Rebuild time...? (before worrying about a non-working HAT)

reselect your DAC under settings an reboot. Should work

A combination of...
- shutting down the Pi, and
- removing the DAC HAT from the Pi pcb, and
- reseating the DAC HAT onto the Pi pcb, and
- clearing the web browser cache and history, and
- rebooting the Pi...

seems to have fixed it.

Thanks.

Nope. Wrong again.
So now, if I install the DC power jumper on the Boss DAC and power both the Pi and the DAC from the same 5V DC power, the DAC works and music plays.
However...
If I remove the jumper, connect a 5V power supply to the Pi and another 5V power supply to the DAC, the DAC does not work, no music plays, and I get that same error:

MPD error
Failed to open "ALSA default" [alsa]
Failed to open ALSA device "hw0,0" No
such file or directory

I did set the Allo Boss DAC as the i2s device, rebooted, applied MPD settings.
Is there a magic sequence of steps I need to take?

If I want to Post a moOde log --
cat /var/log/moode.log

-- should I do that with the jumper J25 off the Boss DAC and power supplies connected to the Pi and DAC, or can I just power the Pi (and not the DAC) to SSH in and run cat?

Any other diags I should run?

Here's the output from running cat (with J25 jumper installed, one power supply powering both Pi and DAC):
