Solved: Allo 2.1 and Kali..wth?
#1
Thumbs Down
Have a piano 2.1 and pi 3 working fine... added Kali and now no output at all... Sad

Everything seems to work as expected...Kali shows blue lights ..... piano powers up and various i2c displays confirm files are playing.... but they're not making wonderful noise ...

Changed  config to include glb_mclk Enabled and rebooted, cleared cache, checked alsa... still no output.....
So far this is the worst purchase ever.... everything else I've added to the Pi worked ootb or a google fixed it but this is just unfathomable....

anyone care to share their working config...?

EDIT brand new install and same problem.....No Output....wtf ...

It's a while since I had this setup. I guess you've tried with no resampling?

Hiya  jonners,
Yes i recall you had a number of posts here and at DIY-audio re this combo... seemed to work fine for you.....
Tried with and without resampling...
Very odd as MoOde  is performing fine.... works with Piano 2.1 dac.... but as soon as I install  Kali audio output stops although all displays and alsa show through-put as if working correctly...

Have you tried other modes apart from dual mono?

I also had no sound with Kali. I experimented with glb_mclk, and rebooted Moode - the sound appeared until the next reboot or shutdown. The point is in DIP switches on Piano or Kali, I can see later at home.

I have no prob. this is exact the same hardware config with me.

and,
glb_mclk enabled, upsampling 32/*, dual mono

Do you power +5v and enough A to Kali?

It's beginning to look like a problem with the DRONE7 Kali.
I've found Allo's customer service to be very good. They may be a bit snowed under with Katana problems atm.

Yes, thanks!.
It would be helpful to know those settings. I have tried the kali with the dip in both positions to no avail and the piano is in rpi compatibility mode but maybe the other dip on the piano needs some adjustment...?
Though why it works on the pi but not on the kali eludes me...

"Do you power +5v and enough A to Kali? "  Yes, powering the kali and the pi separately.

EDIT:  Just trying everything here and when I set glb_mclk DISABLED I get output from the piano 2.1 !!!
So what's going on ?  why sound with glb_mclk DISABLED and not with glb_mclk ENABLED ??

EDIT-2: So the dip switch on the piano 2.1 for rpi compatibility has to be set to OFF when using the kali and glb_mclk ENABLED and then it works !
How counter-intuitive is that then....

I apologize, yesterday I could not answer. We have come to the same results! How do you sound with Kali and Piano? I hear small clicks when moving to the next track and when adjusting the volume. And when adjusting the volume from 0 to 100 in some positions of the regulator, the sound in one channel disappears, you have to choose the position when both channels are working. Such on 4.3 and 4.4. Режим Dual mono. On PicorePlayer everything is fine.
