Bluetooth issues in Canada - Jakekoe - 06-20-2024
Hello from Canada!
I've been a Moode user for about 2.5 years using a PecanPi hat on a Raspi 3B streaming music and also casting to it with the Bluetooth renderer.
All was good until I updated yesterday.
I can't remember what version I was on but it was about a year ago when I last updated. Unfortunately, I imaged the update over my old version on my SD and I can't seem to find the old versions online to go back to.
Since updating the Pi with both Moode 9.0.2 or 8.3.9, I've lost the ability to hear the Bluetooth output.
I can listen from the online radio stations fine but when I connect to Moode using Bluetooth, everything acts correctly but with no output.
I've connected via Bluetooth with 2 laptops, a Samsung A54 android, and an iPad. All devices connect and act like they're sending music to Moode but with no sound. I've also tried all these same devices to a JVC Bluetooth speaker and they all play fine.
I have the "resume MPD" on, so when I connect via Bluetooth, Moode pauses the radio stream and switches to a "Bluetooth Active" screen but with no output. I've also looked at all the volume controls on both the casting device as well as the Pi and tuner and all are turned up.
I'll also add that the Airplay function from the iPad isn't working any longer as well and since that's Bluetooth I'm feeling like it's a Pi thing or a setting in Moode?
I'm not that strong in the way of programing or coding so please spoon feed me any suggestions you might have.
I'm feeling like it's a switch or something I'm missing but I just can't figure this out.
I can't seem to attach a pdf of the system info but have it if that will be helpful
Thanks for your help!

Hi and welcome.
Kind regards

RE: Bluetooth issues in Canada - the_bertrum - 06-20-2024
Welcome.
Your bluetooth issue could be a simple as volume is your client connecting at zero volume and just needs turning up?
RE: Bluetooth issues in Canada - Tim Curtis - 06-20-2024
Very odd. Bluetooth usually just works.
To troubleshoot try the following:
1. Open an SSH terminal, either the built in WebSSH on System Config or an SSH app on your PC/Mac.
2. Establish a Bluetooth connection to moode from one of your clients
3. Start playback on your connected client
3. Run the commands below and post the output
Code: moodeutl --hwparams
sudo moodeutl -d | grep vol
sudo moodeutl -d | grep bt
moodeutl -l

OK, that was fun figuring out that wormhole...

not sure why that one line shows a smiley face. It actually reads like:

RE: Bluetooth issues in Canada - Jakekoe - 06-20-2024
ok seems the translation for an "s:" comes out as a smiley face on this forum?
Oh isn't getting old fun?
Thanks again for all your help!
RE: Bluetooth issues in Canada - Tim Curtis - 06-20-2024
I placed the log output in a code box for readability. The code box icon is on right side of the toolbar when creating or editing a post.
RE: Bluetooth issues in Canada - Tim Curtis - 06-20-2024
I don't see anything suspicious in the logs. All the settings look ok.
In the Bluetooth Control screen try setting ALSA output mode to "Compatibility"

Unfortunately that doesn’t affect it.
Are the older versions of Moode available to see if I can get it work again with a version from about a year ago?
