RE: Volume issue on moode 8.0.2 - Tim Curtis - 08-03-2022 There are definitely some suspicious timings in the log. Typically moOde startup which occurs after Linux startup and is recorded in the moOde startup log takes around 30 - 60 seconds. The log you posted shows that moOde startup took 4 minutes 22 seconds :-0 There are 3 long delays in the log. Two of these delays marked A and B below occur during sections where various files are being updated. The third delay marked C occurs when the watchdog script is launched. The delays account for around 3 minutes 30 seconds which if subtracted from the total startup time bring it down to around 1 minute. I suspect that Linux startup which is recorded in the dmesg log would also show some unusual delays. The delays suggest possible slow or malfunctioning boot media (SD Card or USB drive). Delays are marked in red. pi@moode:~ $ moodeutl -l 20220802 031041 worker: -- 20220802 031041 worker: -- Start moOde 8 series 20220802 031041 worker: -- 20220802 031041 worker: Successfully daemonized A - I compare this to an Pi4B on my desk running moOde 8.1.2 which just now took about 20 seconds to complete the file check and no time (in recorded seconds) to complete the other two steps. This makes me wonder if your system memory card (uSD? USB?) is up to snuff.ok Kent.mine i guess is a 16/32 gb of sandisk.i dont put any songs on it.the memory card has just the os.its pretty new one, probably some 6-8 months old but hey repeated writes and deletes could have made the card bad.who knows.let me get one more log.i will post here. But you could be write about the sd card.i will purchase a new one probably and check. The power brick is the allo nirvana and it seems to be ok from the looks of it,and not too old. RE: Volume issue on moode 8.0.2 - Tim Curtis - 08-03-2022 I've been using these WD Purple cards now and no issues. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088CDTLFX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 RE: Volume issue on moode 8.0.2 - TheOldPresbyope - 08-03-2022 Not an endorsement but I've been using SanDisk Ultra and Ultra Plus cards for years and abused them senselessly---writing and rewriting, killing power without shutting down first, etc. I may have had one memory card fail out of dozens but I'm not sure but that may have been a store-branded card instead. Regards, Kent RE: Volume issue on moode 8.0.2 - sand87ch - 08-04-2022 (08-03-2022, 11:10 PM)TheOldPresbyope Wrote: Not an endorsement but I've been using SanDisk Ultra and Ultra Plus cards for years and abused them senselessly---writing and rewriting, killing power without shutting down first, etc. I may have had one memory card fail out of dozens but I'm not sure but that may have been a store-branded card instead. Ok.With my allo boss i used to power off without shutting down. That could have been the issue. However the reason i do so nowadays is because if i shut down..then in the next power cycle it doesnt satrt up automatically unless i click and hold the hardware button on the ALLO.It sometimes feels like a hit or miss as sometimes it starts late etc etc.So i went back to power off/on without shutting down.Though before shut down i do disconnect airplay or any streaming to it.Btw in india due to quick power failures etc anyways it switches off without a graceful shutdown. Mine is the san disk class 10 32GB card.Over the years i have seen both sandisk ultra and samsung evo going bad.I will try WD or HP this time and go for a 16GB/32GB. Pulling the plug typically doesn't cause any issues. Ive done it many times and we also have the occasional power outage and all the electronics seem to be ok. Similar to @TheOldPresbyope' I've also used SanDisk Ultra 10's for many years and have only had a couple failures. After you re-flash try booting the system up with only an Ethernet connection to give you a baseline for boot time. If it's still really long then try the card on a bare Pi connected via Ethernet to eliminate any issues with the Boss 2 hardware. I can confirm that the boot issue is now not an issue at all. RE: Volume issue on moode 8.0.2 - Tim Curtis - 08-15-2022 Nice :-) |
