RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - the_bertrum - 04-08-2024 If you are using an Android phone the low volume might be because of this: https://www.androidauthority.com/android-disable-absolute-bluetooth-volume-3391110/ RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - setfan - 04-08-2024 Yeah, I have the phone up to 100% volume already so its really weird. Sounds like there is nothing in Moode I can change to increase the volume either then. Thanks. RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - Tim Curtis - 04-08-2024 (04-08-2024, 09:30 AM)setfan Wrote: Yeah, I have the phone up to 100% volume already so its really weird. Sounds like there is nothing in Moode I can change to increase the volume either then. If you are using the ancient moode 6 it could be a bug in its volume setting routine when bluetooth connects. Nothing can be done about that. I'd suggest trying the latest 8.3.9 :-) RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - TheOldPresbyope - 04-08-2024 (04-08-2024, 12:04 PM)setfan Wrote:(04-08-2024, 08:18 AM)the_bertrum Wrote: If you are using an Android phone the low volume might be because of this: That androidauthority article is an interesting find but I urge you to read it all, including the FAQs at the end, before trying it. As I read it, you'll find yourself at 100% volume with no chance to control it. From the FAQ titled "What happens if I turn off Bluetooth Absolute Volume on Android?" Quote:The only real difference is that your phone will no longer be able to control the volume of your Bluetooth headphones or speakers. You will need to manage your audio device’s volume from the device itself. Of course, this is an issue if your headphones are newer and don’t even have volume controls. Like the hypothesized "newer" headphones, moOde doesn't provide user-adjustable volume control in its Bluetooth Renderer. Anyway, I can confirm that, in my case at least, the volume control still works with this turned off and it does allow the bluetooth to be turned up a lot further. I'm using a Pixel 6 with the most up to date Android. I recommend proceeding with caution, as I would anything that requires the developer options turned on [attachment=3720] RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - TheOldPresbyope - 04-08-2024 (04-08-2024, 01:28 PM)the_bertrum Wrote:(04-08-2024, 12:23 PM)TheOldPresbyope Wrote:(04-08-2024, 12:04 PM)setfan Wrote:(04-08-2024, 08:18 AM)the_bertrum Wrote: If you are using an Android phone the low volume might be because of this: OK, I just tried it too, also on a Pixel 6 - Pixel 6a actually. Yup, I can control volume from the phone so the FAQ is indeed out of date. OTOH to my aging ears there’s no obvious difference in sound volume with the Bluetooth absolute volume enabled and disabled. I have the Pixel HD audio enabled (another developer option) so it’s using its Bluetooth aptX codec and my moOde settings are stock. Regards, Kent RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - setfan - 04-21-2024 So to upgrade to the latest Moode version I need to write the new image on a micro SD card. I don't have a micro SD card reader - is it possible to use my android phone to save the latest Moode version onto an SD card? Or must it be done on a PC with a card reader? RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - Tim Curtis - 04-21-2024 Try a USB to uSD Card adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XTQZS4F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 RE: Software update from 6.4.2 - setfan - 04-25-2024 OK, am inching my way closer to an upgrade install! Have got the image written onto a micro sd card, so am ready to boot up my RPi. My question is - is it essential to connect a monitor to my RPi in order to configure Moode (I only have hdmi cable, and no micro hdmi adapter) OR will I be able to access Moode on my network PC (with the RPi connected via ethernet cable to the network) using the Moode.local web address? I know these must be dumb questions, so thanks for the ongoing patience! |
