RE: (9.0.2) moOde always crashes when i try to scan my library - Perhaps - 06-15-2024
Hi there,
I have the same problem. Database Regeneration / Update Folder crashes Moode (9.0 / 9.1 /9.2) on Samba NAS connected to FritzBox.
Using another Raspberry (same model) running Moode 8.3.9 does the work in some minutes without any problem.
Kind regards and thanks for Your help and work.
Joe

@Perhaps Open a dedicated thread for your problem (and include a link to this one.)
In the new thread post details:
What model Fritzbox ?
What is the NAS device and O/S ?
What is the output from 'modeutl -l' ?
RE: (9.0.2) moOde always crashes when i try to scan my library - Perhaps - 06-15-2024
Checked the /var/log/mpd/log
if the PC is not present and only the NAS at FritzBox all Items will be removed from the database update:remove.
Files from the mSata NAS will be update:added but only a few directories. There is no entrie of a failure in the log.
No energy saving modes active (allways full power).
Only a failure during playing radio was regulary reported:
: alsa_output: Decoder is too slow; playing silence to avoid xrun
: alsa_output: Decoder is too slow; playing silence to avoid xrun
: alsa_output: Decoder is too slow; playing silence to avoid xrun
May it be Regeneration does have probs in the 9.X version with empty directories / special chars in the filename ().' ???
Kind regards

Hi Drone7,
sorry I seldom need the forum because Moode runs normally so perfectly.
Was not knowing to open a new thread. Thought to place same to same.
Sorry.
- FritzBox 7590 (actual OS)
- O/S on PC was WIN 10 and then changed to WIN 11 but here I don't have Probs.
- mSata at FritzBox
- modeutl -l: command not found
Thanks

You won't be infringing on copyright because any files provided to our project are only used for troubleshooting your specific issues.
It looks like the flac gaming files are broken so no need to provide any of them.
I'd be interested in testing the file with the huge cover.
Files with special characters or punctuation should not be an issue. I have many in my collection. There was an issue poster recently though that files with tags containing URL's can cause problems.
You can get more info by turning on verbose logging in MPD Config but the log will be ginormous.

I have many files that contain special chars in their names and no issues but of course bugs in the code can never be ruled out. The challenge is to provide a way for me or one of the other devs to reproduce the issue on our end. Once thats done there is a good chance it can be traced to a failure in the code.
I don't quite understand your config though. I noticed that you have Samba turned on on the Pi. Is it being used as a file server or do you just use it to connect to other file servers?

Connection to harddisks via Wlan
- One Samba source is a PC via Wlan (when it is on)
with Moode 8.3.9 the database doesn't loose the entries when not connected
- second is a SSD connected to USB of the FritzBox,
Storage (NAS) function
RE: (9.0.2) moOde always crashes when i try to scan my library - Tim Curtis - 06-15-2024
I would turn Samba off on the Pi since it's not being used as a file server. You will still be able to connect to your other file servers (PC and the NAS) from the Pi.
If I understand correctly, the issue is:
When PC file server is off MPD automatically removes all database entries when the Pi starts and then adds only the NAS entries but not all of them?
