RE: Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 release - Artemis - 11-24-2024

Hello, I have similar issue with the new Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2.

I mean, it works fine after some modifications, but I am unable to rotate the screen to 90 degrees right. The modifications I have made are:

replaced vc4-kms-dsi-ili9881-7inch.dtbo with the one from here:

https://community.volumio.com/uploads/short-url/9LUB7UupCqXzqEv4TlEzaw4Bik8.zip

added /boot/firmware/config the following line:

# Match your rotation counter clockwise 0, 90, 180, 270 degree
dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-ili9881-7inch,rotation=90.

When my Raspberry Pi (3 B+) boots the screen is properly displayed (horizontal view), but when Moode UI is loaded is back to vertical view.

I tried this via SSH:

$ export DISPLAY=:0
$ xrandr --output DSI-1 --rotate right

and it rotates the screen, but then it is not scaled properly.

Any ideas how to fix this?

regards

I assume your screen is plugged into the connector marked "CAM / DISP 1" not "CAM / DISP 0"

I usually do my screen setup commands in config.txt and I thought cmdline.txt changes only affected the text display during boot so I'm probably not much help

Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 wrong display port instruction.
Raspberry Pi 5 B.
Use Port 1 (one)
DSI-1.
but this happens to be:
video=DSI-2
You have to edit:
/boot/firmware/cmdline.txt
and edit the existing first line by adding this line at the end:
video=DSI-2:720x1280@60,rotate=90

and yes, the moOde start up lines are in landscape!

but then:

the interface is still in portrait.

is there any command that overules the command in /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt?

You should be able to rotate the display in the Moode "peripherals" configuration tab

Nice!

However, I'll be waiting a bit more until there is something fully closed available. I would like to buy and use one to put in the living room to control the moOde player, but this open design does not have the right WAF yet....

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I installed the new MoOde image 9.15.
and choose the 90 degrees.
As seen on the picture, there is no screen rotation, but a picture rotation!

Still a strange thing!

RE: Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 release - Tim Curtis - 11-29-2024

Since the Touch 2 native orientation is portrait the rotation settings do the following:

0 deg = portrait
90 deg = upside down landscape
180 deg = upside down portrait
270 deg = landscape

0 deg and 180 deg give same result.
the 90 deg is on the picture previous post.
and here the 270 deg result:
