New info:
Did not try 32 bit yet but:
I have tried DSD on Moode an Volumio with both producing pops/clicks.
I have borrowed a RPI 4 for 1 week
I tried first moode but did not start with image expanded in RPI 3.
But Volumio worked with image from RPI 3 without wi-fi (cannot connect for whatever reason).
After playing several times two dsd 256 files i can tell you that there were no pops/clicks.
Those days I will try installing moode on rpi 4 and see how it is runnging. Hopefully will be fine.

I have tried Moode on RPI4 4G ram and with both 32 bit and 64bit will run flawless even with DSD256 and 24b/352khz flac. No pops/clicks invloved. The ssd is inserte in one of usb v3 port and DAC in one of usb v2 port. So it seems to me that either is the driver or maybe rpi 3 usb implementation.

And last on Moode 32 bit kernel over USB on RPI 3 will click/pop with DSD256 and also on 352/24 flac.
My personal conclusion is to buy RPI4 and will work properly with USB dacs.

Interesting set of tests but I don't think your particular result can be generalized. Maybe its an issue with the USB chipset used in the particular DAC you have.

Agree. Can also be the implementation made by the chineze DAC manufacturer.
I can also give the usb chipset which is quite a good one

For what it's worth, the popping noise problem that I'm having with an RP4 is with an Audiolab M-DAC which has a ES9018 Sabre Reference 32-bit DAC chipset. I'm afraid that I do not have another DAC with which to compare it.

Actualy is not DAC (sabre) that is the problem but the chip that handles the USB communication and the implemention of it. My DAC also has an Sabre DAC, model ES9038Q2M. And there are the results.

Thank you for the clarification. I mentioned it in a earlier post in this thread, but I do not hear the popping sound when using a Pi-2B running the same version of MoOde. Looks like some sort of incompatibility between the USB out on the Pi and the USB in on the DAC.

I solved most of the clicks I get on 192k or greater by setting the Pi3 to CPU>Performance (per a tip in the Allo Sig thread).
Running an Audiolab M-DAC Mini via USB.

Many thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try, but I'm not sure that it will work as I think that it's an issue with regard to the USB output on my new Pi-4B not being compatible with the USB input chip-set in the M-DAC which only meets the USB 1.1 standard. As I have mentioned previously, I have no problems with regard to popping noises when using a Pi-2B running the same version of MoOde.
