USB HDD won't spin down - Cymbal Monkey - 02-18-2020
After a full 12 hours of idling, my connected WD My Passport drive won't spin down when connected to my Raspberry Pi, running the latest version of Moode. While I do have backups, I worry about drive longevity if it's up 100% of the time.

Because of your previous post, I did a little Web searching. Have a look at https://askubuntu.com/questions/884116/automatically-spin-down-usb-hard-drives-after-period-of-inactivity
I have no idea if what is presented here will work, or, if it does, whether the time required to spin a disk back up again would disrupt MPD, but it's a starting place.
