No sound. Pi3B+, Hifiberry Dac+pro - Macseamus1 - 06-14-2018

I believe I have a successful install and configuration, but I can get no sound (true playing files are internet radio).  The audio info screen looks like this:

Input Processing
Source:
USB/C82D-9DE9/Nickel Creek/01 Ode To A Butterfly.m4a
Encoded at:
44.1 kHz, Stereo, AAC
Decoded to:
0 bps
DSP Operations
Resampling:
off
Crossfeed:
off
Equalizer:
Graphic EQ: (off), Parametric EQ: (off}
Crossfade:
0 seconds
Other:
Volume normalize (no}, Replaygain (off)
Chip options:
FIR interpolation with de-emphasis, gain=0 dB, boost=0 dB
Volume ctl:
Software (MPD 32-bit float with dither)
Output Stream
Format:
0 bps
Audio Device
Device:
HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro
Chip:
Burr Brown PCM5122
Architecture:
Sigma/Delta Advanced Segment 24 bit 192 kHz
Interface:
I2S

The pi is connected via wifi and audio is output from the dac to a stereo amp.  HDMI is turned off.  I've fiddled with various settings, but without success and am wondering what else I might do to figure this out.  Any ideas

RE: No sound. Pi3B+, Hifiberry Dac+pro - DRONE7 - 06-15-2018

Assuming your amplifier has its own volume control then  turn it down low now.

In moOde go to Configure>Audio>MPD options>Edit Settings and in the page that opens go to Volume control and set as disabled.
Volume will now be output at 100% hence the warning to turn the amp volume down.
Reboot and see if that makes a difference..

Btw...what does "true playing files are internet radio" mean ? Your posted info shows you are playing from usb..."Source:
USB/C82D-9DE9/Nickel Creek/01 Ode To A Butterfly.m4a"

Try another file type...mp3, flac, wave or an internet stream

Audio info shows the file is failing the decode stage and thus no output stream is produced.

Input Processing
Decoded to:
0 bps

Output Stream
Format:
0 bps

I would start by looking at MPD log for indications of what is causing the failure to decode the file.

cat /var/log/mpd/log

Tim, I'll try that.  I also copied the Moode log.  Will paste below.  I note a couple of lines where it says "connection to mpd failed."  Is that significant?

Those messages appear when your client tries to connect to MPD before its started by Worker. They can occasionally appear during reboot or power up and are harmless.

Hey Tim, I'm a bit of a noob. I can navigate via ssh to the mpd folder and can see the log, but not sure how to read it. Can you suggest a command?

You could try the cat command. Something like cat /var/log/mpd/log

Never mind. Figured it out. Pasting some of it below. Looks like what I was getting with volumio.

ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1713Sad_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card

Someone else suggested "aplay -l" which gives this: aplay: device_list:270: no soundcards found...
