Linux 5.4.y kernel branch - Tim Curtis - 05-04-2020 Looks like the Raspberry Pi Linux team has bumped to the 5.4.y kernel branch. https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-firmware/commits/master There are zillions of fixes and updates in this branch and so I'll be monitoring things to determine when its best for our nice project to switch over :-) I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that switched to 5.4 on a moOde 6.5.y build. -Tim RE: Linux 5.4.y kernel branch - philrandal - 05-04-2020 (05-04-2020, 01:44 AM)Tim Curtis Wrote: Looks like the Raspberry Pi Linux team has bumped to the 5.4.y kernel branch. Kernel 5.4 thread on the Raspberry Pi forum: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=269769 A quick test after an rpi-update and it is all working for me. Cheers, Phil RE: Linux 5.4.y kernel branch - TheOldPresbyope - 05-04-2020 Ran rpi-update on an RPi0W, RPi3A, RPi3B+, and RPi4B, all running moOde 6.5.1. All updated nicely: Raspbian 10.3 | 5.4.35-v7+ #1314 | armv7l (32-bit) So far I've listened only to the RPi3B+ via USB/aptX to Sennheiser BT headphone and the RPi4B via USB Khadas Tone Board. Seem to be working ok. Regards, Kent RE: Linux 5.4.y kernel branch - Tim Curtis - 05-04-2020 Cool :-) @philrandal that's an interesting read. Looks like a lot of good A/V stuff in 5.4.y https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=269769 RE: Linux 5.4.y kernel branch - jonners - 05-04-2020 Rpi3b+/TerraBerry I2SDAC, 6.5.1 updated. All OK so far. RE: Linux 5.4.y kernel branch - TheOldPresbyope - 05-04-2020 The best post in the RP Forum thread about moving the kernel to 5.4 (herafter, "TheThread"): Quote:Easy to be spooked by the jump from 4.x to 5.x but actually "major" version increments are not necessarily any more significant than "minor" increments. The only real distinction is that a bottle of whisky changes hands between Greg K-H and Linus T on the "major" bumps. I only learned this recently: no doubt it's old news to the kernel sages here! I should think the possible edge cases would be
