Update from 6.4.2 to last version - DERLOUX - 05-21-2020

Hello
I want to upgrade to the latest version of MoodeAudio but the check for software update command always tells me that I am up to date.

What is the problem ?

There is no in place update from 6.4.2 to 6.5.2 unfortunately. You will have to download the latest version and write a fresh image to a clean SD card.

Perhaps wait for version 6.6.0, which will have quite a lot of improvements and new features? Downloading, writing a new SD card and setting up shouldn't take 2 or 3 hours. If you use WiFi, you can speed things up by preconfiguring WiFi as per the start up guide.

A new image is only required when when Raspberry Pi foundation releases a new version of Raspbian Lite OS and we decide to base the next major release of moOde on that new release. It's to ensure highest quality because we have no way of knowing what's types of modifications or 3rd party software or tweaks have been made which could foul up a complex in-place upgrade. The Raspberry Pi foundation also recommends fresh image for major releases of Raspbian.

Generally within a moOde release series for example 5 series or 6 series all the updates are in-place.

I can update all 3 of my MoOde players with a fresh image easily within an hour, why is it taking so long?

+1... new image installation and configuration is a pretty quick process (under one hour)... also, if the User is employing particular modifications and configuration, the onus is upon the User to save the current configuration and reproduce it onto the new build.

@CallMeMike   Yes !  I have a desktop folder with all the moOde mods that I feel apply to my hardware....Flirc..Oled...favourite radio streams.. cdplayer.. etc and simply run those via a terminal in moOde ....takes next to no time. (about 5 minutes added to the install.)
