2 moOde systems, same config, same music source, different songs counts - zazouboy - 05-25-2020 Good evening to all ! I have two moOde systems. One is composed of a Raspberry Pi4 4GB with a HifiBerry Dac+ ADC Pro (I2S), connected by ethernet. The other one is composed of a RaspBerry Pi 2GB with a Khadas Tone Board (USB), connected by WiFi. Apart from the audio configuration, both have the same music source (SSD drive connected to my internet box), and the same general configuration (MPD, appearance, etc...). Strange thing is, when I regenerate the music database after adding some albums, they have the same albums counts, but the songs counts differ. Has anybody already encountered such a behaviour? Is there something I am missing? Any clue will be much appreciated (before formatting both SD and starting both configurations from scratch in a future moOde release, if needs be). Kind regards, Renaud PS : for the most curious ones, I didn't hear any significant difference in sound quality, both systems sound pretty good ![]() RE: 2 moOde systems, same config, same music source, different songs counts - Tim Curtis - 05-25-2020 By how much do the song counts differ? You can try the command below to see what MPD thinks. Both count 501 albums. One shows 7477 tracks, 499 hours, 58 mins mpc stats Artists: 1463 Albums: 511 Songs: 7477 The other one 7021 tracks, 467 hours, 41 mins mpc stats Artists: 1463 Albums: 498 Songs: 7021 Even weirder ! Maybe I should test with the SSD drive directly attached to Raspberry Pi ? Have a good night ! ![]() RE: 2 moOde systems, same config, same music source, different songs counts - Tim Curtis - 05-25-2020 Very odd. I have multiple systems connected to same share, an SSD attached to Router and never any discrepancies in Library counts. Consider that if both of your systems are in fact 100% same stock moOde release it must be something external to moOde software thats causing the discrepancy. The easy troubleshoot is to swap the Ethernet connected system to WiFi or Wifi connected system to Ethernet and see of the problem follows it. RE: 2 moOde systems, same config, same music source, different songs counts - TheOldPresbyope - 05-25-2020 I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the messages Code: 20200525 220345 thmcache: flac: Zend media exception: Not a valid FLAC bitstream are the result of having FLAC encoded music tracks which have been mistreated by a misconfigured tagger which added an ID3 metadata tag. This issue seems to turn up on our forum every six months or so. If you upload one of those bad boys somewhere like DropBox and PM me a link to it I'll have a look. As for the difference in Album and Track count, I dunno, but you'd need to look at the mpd log to see what it's thinking. Regards, Kent RE: 2 moOde systems, same config, same music source, different songs counts - zazouboy - 05-26-2020 Hi Tim, Kent, Many thanks for your feedbacks. Do you know any good Tag Editor that helps remove unwanted ID3 tags easily ? I have some flac files that have ID3v2 or ID3v1 + Vorbis tags. I would like to keep Vorbis tags only. I know Musicbrainz Picard has such a feature, but you have to update tags in order to remove ID3v2 or whatever tags to keep Vorbis tags only. Or I don't know how to use it properly. I have a MacBook Pro as my main laptop, and additionally a Windows 10 tablet. So OS X or Windows. Cleaning up the tags could help with the "zend media exceptions". As for the tracks counts... Musicbrainz counted 7069 tracks, which is different again from my moOde systems results... Have a nice day ! I didn't like it at first because I didn't understand how to configure/use it but mp3tag is amazingly versatile and probably as good as it gets for a Windows app. The latest version even resizes embedded cover art. Because I'm in the middle of reinstalling systems on my laptop I don't have a running copy just now but IIRC you'll have to go to Tools/Options/Tags/Mpeg to tell it not to write ID3v1/ID3v2 tags. Or something like that. BTW here's a couple of quick command-line tests that a FLAC file has not been diddled with an ID3V2 tag: 1) the characters represented by the first 4 bytes in the file should be "fLaC" Code: pi@moode3A:/mnt/SDCARD/Stereo Test $ od -c LRMonoPhase4.flac | head -1 If, instead, the file begins with the three characters "ID3" you know what happened. 2) the file command should say exactly "FLAC audio bitstream data" Code: pi@moode3A:/mnt/SDCARD/Stereo Test $ file LRMonoPhase4.flac I forget what file reports for a mis-tagged FLAC file. You'll find it in a post somewhere in the forum. Regards, Kent |
