Trying to get local UI display working - inthemoode - 10-08-2020

I installed a cheap 2.8" display (Jaycar one) and touchscreen on a Pi 3b.   Booted from a raspbian sdcard, it all works properly. GUI desktop, touchscreen input etc.

So, booted from a moOde card, installed the LCD-show drivers the same as before, rebooted, and normal text boot messages appear on the 2.8" screen. Went into moOde via the browser interface and switched on the local UI in system config.  Seemed to take a long time and nothing happened, so I rebooted.

Again, normal text boot messages on the screen, so back into moOde via the browser.   Now, when I choose, config from the m menu,  the grey screen with the library audio network system config options comes up,  BUT clicking on system does nothing except cause the little busy circle to spin.   Oh and the 2.8" screen is still just showing the boot messages and the login prompt.

Does the manufacturer of this device state that the drivers "installed the LCD-show drivers" are compatible with moOde's custom OS ??

We support the Raspberry Pi 7" Touch in our OS but other displays are YMMV.

A year ago another user reported difficulty with the LCD-show drivers and a 3.5in TFT display but in the end marked the thread solved. Maybe you can find some wisdom in that thread.

Kent

Yes, sure, I fully understand that.

Just thought I would try, and maybe someone here might have a suggestion.  Appreciate that you can't support everything out there.

Yes, that's the same problem.  I now recall seeing a message about mpd not working as well.

Thanks for the link.  I can play around with that now...

Just an update. The install script for these displays (https://github.com/goodtft/LCD-show) seems to be fairly naughty and changes a lot of things. I mean, it's trying to be quite clever, but it seems to assume it is working on a standard raspbian install, at least I think.

Might need to rethink

Yes, somebody here (in this forum), needs to check what is breaking Moode when installing screens driver.
