Moode + Cayin cs-55a - welder911 - 11-17-2020

Hello everyone, I have a tube amp at home with the model of rpi4 and cayin cs55a. Could you please tell me what settings I should adjust to get the best sound over USB. Because I don't want to use SOX, but I wonder if the moode in standard setting automatically provides the resolutions my amp supports?

Best Regards,
Gokhan

What DAC is the device using?

This is a mystery. Because CAYIN does not give any information about this dac.

However, according to rumors, ESS9016 is used.

Interesting that they don't advertise the DAC brand at all, I'd be popping the lid off & having a look for any identifying refs & googling them.

To open the cover, I personally feel amateurish.  Sad

It is  USB 2.0 so should be  plug and play in Linux and MoOde. (Driver only needed for Windows.)

Specs are...

[*]USB DAC Specification:Compatible with Audio Class 1.0 and Audio Class 2.0
[*]Word length: 16-32bits
[*]Sampling rate: 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHz, 352.8kHz, 384kHz

With it connected and music playing use the Moode menu to view the 'Audio Info'
If this reports the formats, Sampling rate, and Word length of the files you are playing then all is well.

Relax and listen to some music. Smile

Set Volume control in MPD to 'Hardware' (if available).
That's it. Relax... etc.

Well done... plus the bonus of a tidy heating source from those valves come the winter frost :-)

Looking fine there   Smile

Perhaps you are wondering why your DSD is converted ? Looks like your DAC does not play Native DSD..... that's hardware and you may wish to ask the maker why. Otherwise all is as expected and working well :-)
