Add PI2AES to device list - stevej - 02-15-2021

The PI2AES HAT currently can utilize the allo Digione driver. To make it more clear for users of this device and eliminate confusion could you please add the PI2AES to the device list.

Regards

Sure just send me a sample device so I can verify that it actually works after doing the coding to integrate it.

I’m not the manufacturer. I recently purchased one and have been a Moode user for a while and found it confusing when configuring the device in Moode.

I don’t have dsd content or a way to generate. You can ask the manufacturer on his website, he’s very responsive.

There are sample test tracks for download at http://www.2l.no/hires/ if you are curious or so inclined.

@meprateek22
I downloaded a dsd64 song and it didn’t play with a dop setting. Hope this helps.

Just discovered my DAC doesn’t support dop so my test above doesn’t necessarily mean the Pi2AES can’t support dop.

RE: Add PI2AES to device list - Hyperduel - 04-07-2021

Hello there,

as an owner of two PI2AES hats and running moOde, Michael Kelly (the designer of PI2AES Hat) stated multiple times in different forums that the HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro is the Device Driver to choose for the PI2AES HAT in the I2S Audio Device menu. Everything including all digital outputs + HDMI acting as i2s output works. Running DSD64 to all digital outputs except for i2s will be DSD converted to PCM (however, I heard DoP does work on certain DACs).

I'm not too sure adding a separate section in the menu just for PI2AES would be wise, I would just edit HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro section to HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro/PI2AES. Same drivers will work perfectly on both HATs.
