Audio in - mf-2hd - 09-22-2018 Hello everyone, I want to stream audio from my cassette deck or record-player via my old stereo gear to active speakers. They are already connected to my homenet. Is there a way to add an audio in option to my pi? I use moodeaudio with an hifiberry dac+ but that has (of course) no audio in. Thx mf-2hd RE: Audio in - CallMeMike - 09-23-2018 (09-22-2018, 08:45 PM)mf-2hd Wrote: Hello everyone, The 'Line Out' ports on your cassette deck and the record-player are pumping out analogue signal while the Raspberry Pi works in the digital domain. I am not aware of any hardware (RPi HAT cards or USB devices) which can be used IN REAL TIME with the original RPi or a different RPi or computer to carry out the task to convert analogue to digital signal which in turn would be 'offered' to Moode Audio. The only straightforward (kind of) way is to convert firstly your tapes and records collection into digital domain using a Capture card (Line In-to-USB), a computer and digital files convertion software. The end files will be stored on your network or on a external storage device and Moode Audio will need to be pointed towards the location of the newly converted music files. It took me almost a year to convert around a thousand CDs into digital files but that was happening ten years ago with a much slower computer and the a poorer choice of convertion software. This experience has taught me to leave the tapes and the records alone... On the other hand if one has a great collection of tapes (cassette or reels) one should consider saving such a collection into the digital domain as the tapes are perishable in time. RE: Audio in - mf-2hd - 09-23-2018 I was thinking of something like the "iEAST M30 Pro". It supports an line in and is able to stream it into my raspberry. I just want to avoid digitalizing of my cassette or phono collection.... RE: Audio in - Tim Curtis - 09-23-2018 How is it able to "stream" to your Raspberry Pi? Look the connectivity diagram: Brochure You need to solve how to get your taped music to devices like: smart devices (computers, phones, tablets), NAS or USB storage as the 'iEAST M30 Pro' gets in the circuit AFTERWARDS. Your chosen device cannot be a 'source' and a 'play' device at the same time... I think it might be possible using snd_aloop, darkice and icecast, but have no idea how you would make it work. You will have to do a lot of research as it's not plug and play. The Raspberrypi forums might offer inspiration for this. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/ There are some dac hats which offer input and output. Hifiberry offer one that I know of, and there are others. I have one of these https://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-accessories/wolfson_pi?ICID=CirrusLogicAudio-topMain-wolfson They work with the original raspberrypi and can be hacked to work with the 3B. and look over on https://www.diyaudio.com/index.php Ronnie RE: Audio in - Man in a van - 09-24-2018 (09-24-2018, 08:44 AM)Man in a van Wrote:(09-22-2018, 08:45 PM)mf-2hd Wrote: Hello everyone, Just found a post which might interest you https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109495-Streaming-Line-Audio&p=921579&viewfull=1#post921579 It's also worth reading the rest of the thread. |
