Hey Now... from Delaware - GlasgowGrip - 08-18-2022 Hello all! First off, many thanks to Tim for creating my account - and I presume also for creating Moode itself. Fabulous job, sir! Secondly, about me: I am a longtime music and hifi audio enthusiast, I grew up in PA and have lived in Northern Delaware for about 30 years. I'm a big-time vintage electronics nut, mainly everything from late 60's to late 70's. I do have some tube gear which I love, but I'm mostly into solid state. Third, I am officially a convert from Volumio (which I've been running for a few years). Last October I set up a new rPi streamer and decided to give Moode 7.5 an extended trial, and it has exceeded Volumio in every way that I care about! Moode wins on performance, ease of use, appearance, and flexibility. I'm now running 7.6.1 on that box and have no complaints. However, yesterday I set up another new rPi streamer and this time I jumped to Moode 8.1.2. Similar setup to my first Moode streamer, but I am having a network problem with the second unit, for which I will start a thread here on the forums. Anyway, happy to have found Moode and happy to be here. And thanks again to Tim! Cheers, Steve RE: Hey Now... from Delaware - TheOldPresbyope - 08-18-2022 Welcome aboard from an almost neighbor (MD, here). I miss the 1960s vacuum-tube gear of my youth — the cheery glow of the filaments and the ‘extra’ heat in my dorm room in the winter. I don’t miss the long warm-up times, the relatively frequent tube failures of various sorts, the struggles to find (and afford) balanced pairs of EL34s for my Dynakit amps, the electric bills! Regards, Kent RE: Hey Now... from Delaware - LeighP - 08-18-2022 Welcome Steve - good to see more converts to moodeaudio - I too came here after a long time running and supporting RuneAudio and/or Volumio. I disliked the two-tier way that Volumio operates and the fact they claimed whizz-bang performance on the Pi4 - well I tried it and my whizz-bang experience was more a damp squib. I looked again at moodeaudio, installed it, a bit of configuring and it's been running here for a good few months and it's going nowhere. (For any runeaudio fans - don't think I don't dislike Rune - it's great and works well but the fact that janui announced the base system software - Arch Linux - is reaching end of life with consequences for Rune and absolutely no response and also the fact that website, etc, etc, has never been updated for many years - has seen me turn my back on a good product. Fingers crossed it continues.) Leigh.... |
