MoOde withQobuz -- new approaches? - Skip Pack - 01-13-2023 I have been interested in using Qobuz in my moOde centric system for quite a while. I realize that there have been some lacking connections/hooks to make this simple, but the recent release of the Wiim Pro has led me to wonder about using it in conjunction with moOde: moOde would operate as a upnp/dlna server, the Wiim Pro would be the renderer when playing back stored music, and the Wiim app on my android phone would be the control device. For Qobuz, moOde would be out of the picture. Does this sound like a functional, stable solution? To me, the conceptual upnp/dlna server, control point, renderer makes sense, but I am suspicious about the niggles that seem to aflict folks trying varying combinations of units and software that would seem to make sense at first look. Thanks for your consideration and responses. Skip RE: MoOde withQobuz -- new approaches? - the_bertrum - 01-13-2023 I'm not sure what the point of moOde would be in such a setup. If moOde is only being a DLNA server in this scenario, you are not using most of the excellent functions that moOde provides, you have effectively swapped your music player from moOde to the Wiim device. You can try it out now though because moOde will already act as a DLNA server, just turn it on in the renderer section. There are also several other DLNA server solutions about that would serve this scenario better on account of not having all the (by then redundant) player features. RE: MoOde withQobuz -- new approaches? - Tim Curtis - 01-13-2023 If the WiiM device can access Samba or NFS shares then you could simply turn on SMB or NFS file sharing in moOde and just use it as NAS device for your local files. If you do a little research you will see that the WiiM streamers are part of a large suite of IoT products and integrations from a company named Linkplay. They are all about scale which is prolly why they can include all the licensed Music Service API's into their inexpensive streamers. The license fees become affordable at scale. @Skip Pack if you end up getting a WiiM post your impressions. RE: MoOde withQobuz -- new approaches? - Skip Pack - 01-13-2023 Thanks for both replys, they are helping my thoughts. My original configuration, where moOde is the server and Wiim Pro the renderer, is based on my desire to have all the mpd options (SoX, etc. . . .) available, at least for file and radio playback. Would this be the only configuration where that would be possible? Would this be the only configuration where that would be possible? I'd always thought that the DLNA server simply sent the file and the decoding was done on the DLNA renderer. If I'm right about that, then SoX and so on wouldn't be available. It would not be the first time that my understanding was totally wrong though. RE: MoOde withQobuz -- new approaches? - Tim Curtis - 01-14-2023 The WiiM devices are audio renderers and thus mutually exclusive to moOde. AFAIK there is no way for a WiiM device to send audio to another device. |
