For a day or so it sounded wonderful, but I could not get any of the radio stations to work.  I should have kept notes, but the message was always about an mpd error.

I then made things worse by thinking I should start from scratch.  I reformatted the sd card, and downloaded the current release.  Seemed like a good idea at the time, since I'd tried so many different configurations earlier, before re learning how to connect to the network drive.

I now have a severe audio problem, where the output is quiet and just sort of dreadful.  A little research has revealed that both the transport and the dac have problems in that (I'm sorry I don't really understand this) a part of the software is not being updated and included in ongoing main kernel.  What is worse, allo is not there for help anymore.

I have an idea that maybe I could download an older version of Moode which might work with my gear.  8.3.0 according to some posts which mention the USBridge Signature Ethernet driver.  I've also read how that particular problem should not be an issue with the current release, except for very particular playback.  Perhaps the assix driver isn't the problem.

There's a problem with Katana, and a solution, which I don't understand either.  In any case, is it possible to download old version Moode?  I would like to try, but don't see how in either GitHub or the Moode site.

Your USBridge Signature uses a Pi-3B+ processor which should also work just fine with Katana.

The Allo I2S driver problems are as follows:
1. Katana I2S driver load fail on Pi-4 and 6.1.y kernel
2. Boss 2 I2S driver not working on kernel < 6.1.35

The USBridge Signature ASIX driver controls the Ethernet and USB interfaces and is not related to the I2S DAC drivers mentioned above. The ASIX driver is part of the stock Linux kernel but Allo made an enhanced version of it that bumped the max bitrate it could handle so DSD512 could possibly be supported.

This enhanced Allo driver was never accepted into the Linux kernel so our project compiled and included it up until recently where it wouldn't compile on the 6.1.y kernel. Allo was not able to provide tech support for it anymore so we dropped it as abandoned code.

The stock ASIX driver that ships with the Linux kernel works just fine on USBridge Signature USB interface for PCM rates up to 705.6 kHz and DSD rates up to DSD256.

Hi fdealexa and Tim - thanks for your response.  I will go back to troubleshoot some more.  

I'd read Tim replying in different thread about the ASIX working as above.  I must have done something else wrong when I started over with new sd card and new Moode version.  Perhaps my configuration.

My files are only flac, and there's nothing higher than 192kHz.  I've had to move it physically again, to make way for a regular dac off eBay.  However, I'm invested in my project and will do another fresh start up to try and duplicate the symptoms.

Because hardware did work in new location with older os except for radio stations, but sound quality plummeted when I started fresh with new os, I likely drew wrong conclusion.  

After reflashing Moode it worked, still no radio working, but the out put from speakers was faint.  When I turned up volume it did get louder, but nothing at all like it had been.  I have volume configured as 'hardware', and have the unbalanced output from Katana feeding my power amplifier directly.  

First time it was beautiful and very loud (I set volume limit as 33 so I wouldn't get myself in trouble).  When I started it over and did something wrong I could set volume up to 99 (never bothered with limits).  It was very distorted and not loud at all.  I'll report back once I know more.
