Hello from an old MPD user - xenocoder - 11-21-2023

Hello everyone,

I am getting into Raspberry Pi streaming through a DAC after years of using Apple and Linux computer-based solutions. I started with a different MPD OS but after a few crashed and losing the library I looked for an alternative. MoOde was highly recommended and I like the community feeling more. I installed it last night and after a long scan my library is in place and playable.

I am using the web browser, MPD Pilot, and MaximumMPD to see what interface I like, but if anyone has recommendations for a good interface I would appreciate it. I don't mind paying, but don't want to buy anything before trying what's available and getting some recommendations. I like visuals and album art, and would very much prefer that bands that start with "The" are alphabetized ignoring the article (e.g., The Police sorts under P, not T).

I'm a long time MPD user, having MPD and ncmpc as my main tools for many years, so I am familiar with the backend, and interested to see this new (to me!) way of leveraging the Raspberry PI as a player.

I've got a pretty sizable MP3 and FLAC music collection that I have on a NAS split by folders (mp3 and HIRESAUDIO). Any advice on library management, especially how to signify easily FLAC vs MP3 albums would be appreciated also if people have thoughts.

Again, thank you for the community and allowing me to join. I'm excited to dive a bit deeper with configurations and tools.

- Evan

Visual and Album Art are handled very nicely by the moOde Web UI, I never feel the need to use anything else. You can add any string you like to the list of things to ignore when sorting, "The" is there by default.

A simple Artist/Album hierarchy works well, but if your tags are in decent order then other set ups work. Also built in to moOde and badges to show the encoding, and search features to find only hi-res and so on. The searches can be saved and used as "library views" as well.

All included in stock moOde, I'm confident you'll love it.

Hi Robert and Francesco,

Thank you for the warm welcome, and thank you very much for the tips and pointers on the native UI. I will spend more time with the moOde Web UI before moving on to anything else.

All the best, Evan
