image size too large for 10.2 " screen - Facel - 01-14-2024
Hi
I would like to use an "old" touch screen connected on my USBridge Signature running moode.
The screen is connected via a VGA /HDMI adapter. The resolution is 1280 x 800 native (1920x1080 max)
The image prompted by moode is too large ...what should I do to have an image size that fit with the screen ?

It's weird... well, I tried in Chrome to simulate your screen sizes (both, TTYTT) and moOde perfectly displays on them; in landscape mode.
I tried both 1280x800 | 1279x799 and 1920x1080 | 1919x1079
can you post a screenshot?
Also, you can tell us what are the actual sizes moOde detects by entering the following command in a SSH session:
moodeutl -q "update cfg_system set value='viewport' where param='pkgid_suffix'"
then just move around various screens, you should see a small toaster on the screen showing the dimension of your display according to moOde.
Once done you can disable that debug feature by the following command:
moodeutl -q "update cfg_system set value='' where param='pkgid_suffix'"

I can adjust it vertically to fit the screen.
The problem is the horizontal display, which is bigger than the physical screen.
When I enter your command "moodeutl -q "update cfg_system ...."
I do not see any small toaster on the screen showing the dimension of the display

Sorry, that shows up only when entering the main screen... you need to enter any configuration screen, for instance "System", then revert back by pressing "<" or the "home" icon on the top-left of the screen... but am afraid you won't be able to see those icons due to the size misbehavior...
You can eventually go to the configuration from your PC, then in "Peripherals" => "Local Display" select [Restart] Local Display: after the restart the Pi should show the "toaster" with the viewport sizes.

Hmm,
that's exactly one of the options I tried in the Chrome screen-size simulator, and it worked fine...
Need some more investigation... @Tim Curtis any clue...?

The symptom suggests a compatibility or configuration issue with the display itself.

Could it be something related to the fact that it's a 16:10 ratio screen ?
Even during the boot, the display is not centered, I can use the screen command (via buttons under it) to move to the right (100%) to be able to read the beginning. But when the moode page is prompted, this goes back to a "centered image" with both left and right parts cut.

- 12.1" screen size,16:10 ratio
- 1280x800 native / 1920x1080 max resolution

What is the manufacturer?
Do they recommend make any amends to the config.txt to force the hdmi resolution.

There must definitely be some setting to be adjusted.
Not only it has two resolutions and adjusts itself with the image centered... the two resolutions have not the same AR... 1280x800 is 16:10, while of course 1920x1080 is the very classic 16:9
