Moode alongside Homebridge on RPi4B: is it possible? - benjgc - 01-19-2024 I have a Raspberry Pi Model 4B with 4GB of RAM that I've used for MoodeAudio for some time, and I love it for that use case. I just moved into a new home, and I wanted to use Homebridge to unify all my various smart devices (Apple HomeKit, Philips Hue, Nest thermostat and doorbell, Samsung appliances, etc). Is it possible to run Homebridge and Moode simultaneously on the same RPi? Or will I need an entirely new host to run Homebridge separate from Moode? Thanks in advance! The fact that you ask the question suggests to me you shouldn't try. moOde is designed to be an standalone system. The fact that it's based on Raspberry Pi OS and it's also possible to install HomeBridge on Raspberry Pi OS does not mean they can peacefully co-exist on the same platform. A determined DIY'er would try anyway, of course, but if they have to ask for help, the moOde community will say "ask HomeBridge" and the HomeBridge community will say "ask moOde". It might actually be possible with some effort to come up with a working solution---which will need tending as the two projects move their separate directions---but I don't think the destination is worth the journey. In my case, I'm running Home Assistant on one RPi safely tucked away and moOde on various RPis that are front-and-center in several rooms. Thank you for this kind advice! Guess I'm gonna have to shell out for a new RPi at some point in the near future. |
