I don't have an account on the Pi forums but if you get the chance ask that user to send another "Request account" email. I'm pretty diligent about acting on each one I receive but occasionally the request is not in English and those just get deleted, or it's in my SPAM folder for some reason and that folder is never checked, it just gets emptied periodically, or maybe I just missed one.
We have previously stated that a full Bookwork release is targeted for Q1 2024 but thats not carved in stone. Currently we are working on integrating the fantastic new CamillaDSP 2.0 for upcoming 8.3.8 Bullseye release also targeted for Q1 2024.
The more important question is why are Pi-5's not readily available yet?
I got one on the initial pre-order last year but as of today all I see is "Sold Out" on the US distributer sites :-0

The pragmatist in me asks what use case demands the features/horsepower of the Pi 5?
It costs more, consumes more power, gets hotter, doesn't fit existing cases, likely needs active cooling, usually needs a heftier power supply, yada yada yada
I got one because I always have to have at least one of every shiny new thing (you should see my box full of SBCs I've toyed with) but my favorite Pis for my moOde players are a Zero 2 W and a 3A+.
Oh, and according to Adafruit the second Pi 5 I ordered last fall *might* be shipped by this April.
I figure this second P 5 with its 8 GB memory will become an ARM compute server and the first, Pi 5 with 4 GB, will be used in various projects I hope to start before I die

There are lots of reasons the Pi 5 is the way to go
- super fast boot
- better USB
- capability for 8ch I2S
- more compute horsepower for DSP
- Bookworm driver fixes and other huge improvements in Networking, Video, etc

although I think they are not needed by most users.
They rest fall into the "nice to have" category for me.
At the end of the day we'll have moOde running smoothly on Bookworm and it'll be up to the user to decide, not me.

It's not necessarily a matter of need but more a dynamic of the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. The hardware and software just keeps getting better at every major release and most people will naturally want that.
Somehow we manage to keep up :-)

Exactly. Anyone buying a Pi today to play around with and use for various things in the future is buying a Pi 5. I suspect that moOde will just work out of the box on the Pi 5 so if the build system allows it you could do worse that just spit out a beta so I and others can check it out while you wait for your Pi 5 to arrive.

I think you have the cart before the horse. Tim and I and others already have at least one Pi 5 each.
The sticking point is that the Pi 5 won’t boot the bullseye release of RaspiOS and there are other changes lurking in the bookworm release besides accommodation of the Pi 5. These require work beyond simply pushing the “build” button. It’s under way but not ready for beta time let alone prime time.

But OK…serious question now…..will a RPi 5 really give me anything over my existing RPi 3B+ operated in it’ current use case: i.e. “single function” Allo Signature config, pulling flacs from my NAS and sending a “bit perfect” (I assume) SPDI/F stream to my Naim DAC.
