More than 1 audio output simultaneously - Meestor_X - 01-25-2024

I assume there's no way to have 2 audio outputs enabled at the same time?
i.e. a HiBerryDAC and USB stereo audio both working at the same time?

Correct.

RE: More than 1 audio output simultaneously - cogitech - 01-26-2024

I am guessing here, so correct me if I am wrong. Is this not possible in CamillaDSP?

If one turned off the "default device" setting in the moOde settings for CamillaDSP, could they then use the pipeline editor to duplicate the right and left channels and then choose one output device for one set of channels and a different output device for the other set of channels?

EDIT: Never mind, Henrik answers my question here https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/camilladsp-cross-platform-iir-and-fir-engine-for-crossovers-room-correction-etc.349818/post-6895888

I am not sure, but this could eventually work...

But if you explain us exactly what you want to finally achieve, maybe we can get to the same page and share our knowledge about.

I was just brainstorming for the OP. Thought maybe CamillaDSP could work for his/her situation. Then I confirmed that it is not possible (see my edit).

This one can be abandoned. Smile

Seen that. I still want to know what the OP's use case is.
For instance, maybe using a 2-in 4-out device instead of 2 stereo ones could help... let's see. There's a interesting thread on ASR about this, maybe later I could link it.

"maybe using a 2-in 4-out device instead of 2 stereo ones could help"

Absolutely. This would work, and CamillaDSP supports it. https://github.com/HEnquist/camilladsp/blob/master/stepbystep.md

Simply follow the example but don't configure the crossover. Stop at the part where he states "Put everything together, and run it. It should work and give unfiltered output on 4 channels."

Just easier when using the the MoOde box in various ways, I sometimes use the XLR outputs on the HiFiBerry hat, other times I might be streaming via USB or even sending audio via HDMI. Having the ability to send to all outputs at once would be very handy as there'd be no configuration changes needed.
Alternately, the ability to have "presets" that from the press of a button could switch outputs without having to go into the config would be an awesome addition to MoOde. The ability to store different settings that can be recalled from the main screen or something. The config screens are pretty intimidating for users, and even for myself if I don't look at them very often I forget what each setting does!

Not exactly a button press solution, but how about having a few different SD cards each configured for the different use case? Swap em over, reboot, new set up!

Yes that would be fantastic :-) and if it could be done I'd definitely have it on the TODO list but currently there are limitations with the Raspberry Pi hardware and RaspiOS that prevent simultaneous audio output from HDMI, USB, I2S and Headphone, and there is no easy way to seemlessly switch between I2S and USB/HDMI.

Maybe something like a Pro-audio Interface would work?
