Which Airplay-Code/ Connect IOS via Airplay - fibonacci - 02-05-2024

Hello everyone,

I feel almost uncomfortable asking this question....

Yesterday I installed moOde Player (V8.3.7 64bit) on a Pi3 for the first time and am currently gathering my first experiences.

Among other things, I wanted to connect my iPhone (V17.3) via the internal LAN using Airplay to play music tracks spontaneously via moOde.

After I have selected the network player on iPhone, I am asked for an Airplay-Code. Neither in the settings under m/configure/renderers nor here in the forum is there any information about which code to use. Standard entries such as "0000" etc. do not work either.

What have I overlooked?

Best regards, Mark

What player app on the phone are u using?

The Airplay connection is via the ios native function ==> no app. For sure I tried also the selection via the amazon music app but I thought that the function is the same in the back.

I have added a secon picture in the first post.

By the way... bluetooth is deactivated in moOde

Got it. I'll see if I can repro later tonight

I have never seen this behavior with my iPad or iPhone connecting to moOde's Airplay renderer and still don't with current moOde 8.3.7.

Not much pops up when I search the InterWeb™ on terms like "airplay code" and what I find seems always to refer to Airplay connections being made to smart TVs.

One vague response I found did tweak my curiosity about the OPs networking environment.

Is the RPi3B connected to the OPs "internal LAN" via Ethernet or using an external WiFi transceiver? What is the IP address of the RPi3B when connected? Best would be to post the System information as often asked for in other support threads.

The iPhone doesn't have an onboard Ethernet transceiver. Is it connected to the OPs LAN via WiFi or something else (such as a USB-Ethernet adapter)? What is the iPhone's IP address when connected?

While we're at it, what is the make and model of the router/AP on that internal LAN to which these connections are being made?

Regards,
Kent

A quick test with my iPhone/IOS 17.3 and I'm not able to repro the issue with the built in Apple Music app or Amazon Music HD.

Maybe its some sort of security setting on the OP's iPhone?

On your phone go into the home app, and look for 'Home Settings'. Then 'Speakers & TV'.
And make sure "Require Password' is not active.
If it is on, turn it off and restart your phone.

My iPad mini (6th gen) is running iPadOS 17.3. My iPhone SE is still running iOS 12.7.2 17.2.1. Neither exhibits the stated behavior.

I don't see anything in the iOS/iPadOS settings which seems relevant---under AirPlay & Handoff, for example, which is where I end up when I search Settings for "AirPlay", or under Privacy & Security. I'm just a dilettante with these OSes however.

ETA - I didn't see @Phil323UK's reply until after I sent my own. Sounds promising but I can't find such an app on my devices.
ETA2 - Oh, sorry, if "Speakers & TV" refers to the subsection I see in the pulldown menu I get from the top-right of the iPadOS scrren, there's no reference to passwords.
ETA3 - the iPhone SE is now running iOS 17.3. Still connecs via AirPlay without manual intervention.
ETA4 - Argh. Seems the 17.3 has slipped in a Home app. I have never activated it but doing so just now I still don't see "Speakers & TV".

It's a puzzlement.

Kent

Hi Kent,

I'm wondering if the OP has an Apple TV that he is using as a home hub (as I have).
If you don't have an Apple TV then maybe the 'Require Password' setting is not required and not visible to users.

This is all I can think of.

Phil.

Could well be. Don't have one so can't try to repro.
