QNAP NAS connection - Listener - 04-24-2024

Hi,

I have two versions of MoOde running, both current. The first one, the older one, connects to my QNAP perfectly. The second one fails with permission denied using exactly the same setup. The only differences are the MoOde ip addresses, both of which are in an allowed connection range, and the connection names which are different. 

Any clues?

What are the versions? "both current" and "the older one" don't go exactly together well...

Natul,

They are both RPIs running 8.3.9. One is a newer setup and cannot connect to the NAS. The other has been running for a long time and can connect perfectly. They are configured identically as far as I can tell except for their names and dacs. The NAS is configured to allow connections from their ips.

I've no knowledge of QNAP but
"They are configured identically as far as I can tell except for their names and dacs."
Would seem to suggest the second one failing may have something to do with disallowed characters in naming or case-sensitive naming errors.
Swap the configured uSD-cards between the 2 Pi and that should rule out hardware (such as dac) if the problem moves to the other Pi.

If the problem stays with the errant Pi then you need to check hardware, connections, power etc.

The names are simple ascii names , QNAP and Fileserve.

Both pis are working perfectly in every respect except for the server connection. The one that connects has an i2s Allo Boss dac, and the one that fails to connect is using a Schiit Modi usb dac. Everything is on the same lan, 192,168.1.x.

Swap the uSD-cards.
If the problem moves to the other Pi it is your MoOde configuration.
If it stays with the same Pi it is hardware.

Then you will be able to troubleshoot appropriately.

OK Bob,

Cards swapped, no change. That is the problem is exactly as it was before. The settings in Music Library are identical expect for names as are the Network settings except for ip addresses.

At some point you'll have to give us some real details.

Firstly, as is often stated in this Forum regarding troubleshooting an installation, for each of the two players (doesn't matter which has which SDcard at this point, just stick to it)

  1. Reboot and then either use the Web SSH terminal in the WebUI or ssh into the player from another host and execute the command moodeutl -l
  2. Copy the entire output from this command into a code box in your reply (one box for each player).
  3. Tell us which player can access the QNAP share and which cannot.
Secondly, how are you serving music shares from your QNAP NAS ... SMB or NFS? Also, do the different names you mention reference the same share?

Thirdly, for each of the players, post in a code box the output from the command ls -la /mnt/NAS

hmm..You don't even say what the result was.
Are we to guess that "Cards swapped, no change. That is the problem is exactly as it was before. " means that the errant Pi is still errant with the alternate card installed ? (The install  that worked on the other Pi)
Or the other Pi is unable to connect running the card from the errant Pi.

As Kent has posted "At some point you'll have to give us some real details."  :-)

Samba for both and they are both trying to access the same share.

Will post the the four sections of output this weekend.
