Airplay not working - Dropbear67 - 11-07-2018 Raspberry Pi 3B+ Using UAC2 and a Topping 30D DAC I have enabled airplay and left the bitrate and everything else at the default. I can see the Moose player come up as a valid airplay target but when I try and play any music through it (iOS 12.1) it just crashes the Airplay server. I checked in /var/log and shareport-server.log is 0 bytes. What can I do to help you guys trouble shoot this? I know airplay may not be popular but honestly I stream more music than I play locally. This is a make and break issue.. VERY happy to donate if this can be worked out. RE: Airplay not working - Dropbear67 - 11-07-2018 I can see two lots of the server running.. is this wrong? root 5686 1 0 18:22 ? 00:00:00 sudo /usr/local/bin/shairport-sync -a Moode Airplay -S soxr -w -B /var/local/www/commandw/spspre.sh -E /var/local/www/commandw/spspost.sh -- -d hw:1 root 5724 5686 0 18:22 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/bin/shairport-sync -a Moode Airplay -S soxr -w -B /var/local/www/commandw/spspre.sh -E /var/local/www/commandw/spspost.sh -- -d hw:1 RE: Airplay not working - Dropbear67 - 11-07-2018 20181107 190348 worker: - Start 20181107 190348 worker: Successfully daemonized 20181107 190349 worker: Session loaded 20181107 190349 worker: Debug logging (off) 20181107 190349 worker: - Platform 20181107 190350 worker: Host (moode) 20181107 190350 worker: Hdwr (Pi-3B+ 1GB v1.3) 20181107 190350 worker: Arch (armv7l) 20181107 190350 worker: Rasp (9.4) 20181107 190350 worker: Kver (4.14.72-v7+) 20181107 190350 worker: Ktyp (Standard) 20181107 190350 worker: Gov (performance) 20181107 190350 worker: Rel (Moode 4.3 2018-09-27) 20181107 190350 worker: Upd (None) 20181107 190350 worker: MPD (0.20.20) 20181107 190350 worker: USB boot enabled 20181107 190350 worker: File system expanded 20181107 190350 worker: HDMI port off 20181107 190350 worker: File check ok 20181107 190350 worker: - Network 20181107 190350 worker: eth0 exists 20181107 190350 worker: eth0 (192.168.0.9) 20181107 190350 worker: wlan0 does not exist 20181107 190350 worker: - Audio 20181107 190351 worker: ALSA outputs unmuted 20181107 190351 worker: ALSA card number (1) 20181107 190351 worker: Audio output (USB audio device) 20181107 190351 worker: ALSA mixer name (D30) 20181107 190351 worker: MPD volume control (disabled) 20181107 190351 worker: Hdwr volume controller not detected 20181107 190351 worker: - Services 20181107 190351 worker: Reset renderer active 20181107 190353 worker: MPD started 20181107 190353 worker: MPD scheduler policy (time-share) 20181107 190353 worker: Configure MPD outputs 20181107 190353 worker: MPD output 1 ALSA default (on) 20181107 190353 worker: MPD output 2 ALSA crossfeed (off) 20181107 190353 worker: MPD output 3 ALSA parametric eq (off) 20181107 190353 worker: MPD output 4 ALSA graphic eq (off) 20181107 190353 worker: MPD output 5 ALSA bluetooth (off) 20181107 190353 worker: MPD crossfade (off) 20181107 190353 worker: Airplay receiver started 20181107 190353 worker: Airplay volume mgt (auto) 20181107 190353 worker: UPnP renderer started 20181107 190353 worker: - Music sources 20181107 190353 worker: USB sources (none attached) 20181107 190353 worker: NAS sources (mountall initiated) 20181107 190353 worker: - Miscellaneous 20181107 190353 worker: Volume level (0) restored 20181107 190353 worker: Maintenance interval (21600) 20181107 190353 worker: Screen saver activation (Never) 20181107 190353 worker: Watchdog started 20181107 190353 worker: Ready 20181107 191543 worker: Job airplaysvc 20181107 191613 worker: Job airplaysvc 20181107 191708 worker: Job shellinabox 20181107 192232 worker: Job airplaysvc RE: Airplay not working - Dropbear67 - 11-07-2018 Ok I think I sorted it.. it looks as though my DAC can only support 32 bit and not 16 bit samples. so changing the 16bit to 32bit seems to have fixed it ... RE: Airplay not working - Dropbear67 - 11-08-2018 Can someone please explain to me why this 32bit fudge is neccessary? is it something to do with the lack of proper USB drivers? The specs for the DAC say the following; Topping D30 DAC Digital input: USB + S/PDIF (optical) + S/PDIF (RCA) Analog input: 1 x RCA (L and R) Input range, USB: 16–24 bit/44.1–192 kHz, DSD64, DSD128 RE: Airplay not working - Tim Curtis - 11-08-2018 What does the manufacture of this device say about Linux support? Thanks for this! Airplay kept crashing for me. Thankfully this thread came up in my Googling and changing bit depth to 32 bits (Chord USB DAC) fixed it completely. Very happy indeed! |
