moOde on Holo Red - azimuth - 06-19-2024 Has anyone tried or anyone successfully installed moOde 8 or 9on the Holo Red? It seems like it should work as the Red is a Pi Compute Module 4. My friend is trying to install 9 and tried 8.3.9 and before making any changes, it is locking up on him. RE: moOde on Holo Red - azimuth - 06-19-2024 Basically it will load, but you can't save any settings and it just hangs when you try to reboot. RE: moOde on Holo Red - the_bertrum - 06-19-2024 Sounds like a failure to define a user and password when writing the image. Read the setup guide. Or it could be just that the Holo Red isn't quite a stock CM4 module. It is connected via Ethernet. I have setup moOde since like version 3 and I have never had to set a password unless I was going to use SSH or the WiFi Hotspot password. It very well could be not a stock CM4. Holo claims "...has been developed by Holo Audio itself, of course optimized for Audio." Oddly enough, I am now having the same issues with 9.0.2 with a Pi 3+. When I go to the Audio setting, it gives me a 500 error. When I go to the Network settings, it hangs. Same with going to System. RE: moOde on Holo Red - Tim Curtis - 06-19-2024 Have you done the required steps in the Setup Guide to prepare the image using the Raspberry Pi Imager? I was unaware you had to use the Raspberry Pi Imager. I guess that needs to be more clearly stated. I used Balana Etcher like I have always used. I am using the official Raspberry Pi Imager now and will report back. I was/am a big fan of Bakena Etcher too. Back when the RPF introduced the more stringent security settings (no default user and password) I posted a moOde HowTo describing what has to be done if one doesn't want to use the official Imager. It was a fun intellectual exercise but, honestly, why bother when using the Imager options is so easy. The requirement to use the Pi Imager started over a year ago with the 8.3.0 release. It's stated in each official release announcement here in the Forum, on the Download page at moodeaudio.org and mentioned a zillion times here in various Threads and posts and in our other socials. Theres also a pending enhancement to the Imager schema that will provide a key for a Setup Guide link in the moOde item in the Media Player OS section. If there is something more I can do let me know. RE: moOde on Holo Red - azimuth - 06-19-2024 @Tim Curtis Holy cow...now I finally got my Pi 3+ working. You are great at writing requirements and what I think it needed is clearer instructions. I am an IT Learning & Development Instructional Designer and might be able to help out with that.
