your advice on travel friendly setup? - Iacov - 07-05-2024 hey my kids love selecting and listening to audio books via moode. the setup at home is a pi 3b+ with the official 7" touchscreen in a fitting case and external USB speakers when on vacation they usually use their inexpensive agptek mp3 player with the downside that the firmware is lackluster (only short text is displayed, sort order is weird if not every track count starts at 1... eg 101,102,103...121 etc) on domestic vacations I take my own travel router with me, so there's a VPN home and our own ssid theoretically, I could bring moode with us then... the question is, how compact can the setup be to offer similar functionality? what is the smallest touchscreen size moode still works reliably on? what is the smallest and least expensive pi that moode works well with a touchscreen on? a pi zero 2w? has anyone of you ever built or used a travel friendly setup and could tell what worked and what didn't? p. s. i just realize that I could also bring the audio book library along via USB and without a VPN xD RE: your advice on travel friendly setup? - fdealexa - 07-05-2024 (07-05-2024, 04:36 AM)Iacov Wrote: hey Hi Iacov, Welcome on board. I have not a specific experience on traveling raspberry soluzione, bit I have a little experience on the display units. The VPN is not needed: you can use any Storage device on USB (memory key, usb disk, etc.) but you can use the microSD to store your media!!! About the display, if I remember well, moode, officially, supports the 7 inch raspberry display. I have tryed some display touch and, normally, I can say that those with the DSI interface have not problems, those with HDMI interface may have problems, those with the GPIO interface only, often, give problems. Best regards, Francesco RE: your advice on travel friendly setup? - Always_In_The_Moode - 08-09-2024 You could do what I do, which is have Moode running at home and just access the web interface using your touch screen device with a VPN. I use a VPN to connect to my home network and I also use something like VLC to stream the audio over the VPN. I can use it anywhere outside my network with a decent mobile or wifi connection. That way you don't have to worry about taking additional hardware with you, it all stays at home. This may not work for you, so it's just a suggestion. RE: your advice on travel friendly setup? - Nutul - 08-09-2024 Indeed, that's just the ultimate, custom, streaming service. It's about a year I'm mumbling about doing something similar... it's just that I happen to be very lazy... |
