QUESTION :Renderers and Moode - bikerman - 08-06-2024 Hello, I need help understanding how renderers such as Plexamp or Squeeze work with Moode. So I have the following question When using Moode as a player in a renderer (Plexamp/Squeezecentre), is it MPD that is actually processing and passing the music along to any installed DAC? Do I need to restart the MPD service when I make changes such as volume normalisations to the renderer or are these changes automatically applied? When using the Plexamp renderer volume is much louder playing tracks compared to the Squeeze renderer. I have to compensate by turning volume down by 2/3 when listening using squeeze. Anyone know why? Does anyone know how to normalise volume when playing tracks from multiple albums with eith renderer? I have tried and either can't get it to work or cannot notice the difference. I have searched here and other places and tried different suggestions with none seem to work in my setup. I know Moode has support for Repaygain and wonder if anyone who is using it successfully can perhaps help me with settings? My Setup is is Raspberry Pi4, running 9.0.5 with an DAC Hat Thank sin advance for your help RE: QUESTION :Renderers and Moode - Tim Curtis - 08-06-2024 Answers 1. When using Moode as a player in a renderer (Plexamp/Squeezecentre), is it MPD that is actually processing and passing the music along to any installed DAC? Renderers are separate playback applications. MPD is not involved when a renderer is running. 2. Do I need to restart the MPD service when I make changes such as volume normalisations to the renderer or are these changes automatically applied? MPD is not involved in any way when a renderer is running. 3. When using the Plexamp renderer volume is much louder playing tracks compared to the Squeeze renderer. I have to compensate by turning volume down by 2/3 when listening using squeeze. Anyone know why? The output volume and volume curve is controlled entirely by the renderer application. In the case of Plexamp and Bluetooth which appear to have very hot volume curves there is the "ALSA maxvol" option in Renderer Config which can be used to compensate.
