Is webp supported for artwork? - jcucurull - 09-04-2024

Hello,

I have noticed that when I embed covers in webp format in the FLAC songs, they are not shown by Moodeaudio. Is this format supported?

I have tried to set the property Cover Audio > Audio Formats to All+ without success.

Thanks!

Have a look at /var/www/coverart.php. Webp is not one of the supported mime types.

Why not just use jpg or png?

Yes, you are right, it is not supported.

Why not support it? Angel

Other players I use support it (Foobar 2000 and Poweramp) and it is a format more and more used. I can work around it converting the images and re-embedding them of course in the few cases I had the cover in this format.

That would certainly be possible but someone is going to have to verify that it actually works.

Try adding the mime type to /var/www/coverart.php and see what happens.

I will try and let you know if it works or not.

I did try to add the mime type to the file "coverart-php" but it did not work. The reason is that the mentioned PHP file was not the one used when the thumbnails were created.

Instead, the file to modify was one called "/var/www/util/thumb-gen.php" that included the same functions copied from the first file. After adding the mime type to the appropriate functions, the albums with "webp" covers were correctly shown (after the corresponding re-generation of the thumbnails).

I include the modified files so Tim can see the differences and integrate them in a new version if he considers it appropriate.

Thanks for the tips @Tim Curtis !
