No Wi-Fi hotspot with 9.1.4 and RPi4 - buckapound - 10-27-2024

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to upgrade from an earlier Moode 8 that went kaplooie and lost track of the library and could not be rescued.

When I boot up. Moode Wi-Fi hotspot doesn’t appear in the list of available networks.

I’ve written (two different, new 32 gb) SD cards several times both with 9.1.3 and today with 9.1.4, with consistent lack of success. I’m following the instructions for the Pi imager, and have chosen the OS in the imager and also directed it to a downloaded version, with no different results. I am trying with a brand new Pi 4 simply plugged into a 5a PS with nothing else connected to it.

Settings:

– Wi-Fi hotspot enabled and named, with password

– Host named; user ID and PW assigned

– SSH enabled

– Raspberry Pi 4 version selected

– 64 bit Bookworm version of Moode

AFAIK these are all correct. I’ve been using Moode since fairly early versions and have never had this particular problem. Without seeing the Moode Wi-FI, I can’t connect and am I’m pretty much stuck at this point.

Wondering what else to try. Suggestions, anyone?

My understanding is that the hotspot only shows if moode has not established a network connection.
Have you tried accessing your pi with http://hostname.local ?

I suppose its not really clear in the Setup Guide that the Hotspot password can only be entered via the Network Config screen in the WebUI which means the Pi must be first connected via WiFi or Ethernet.

It's this way because the image contains no default userid's or passwords and the Raspberry Pi Imager does not have an input field(s) for setting up a Hotspot SSID/password that could then be imported into moode.

I'll update the Setup Guide.

Thanks, Tim, does this mean the Wi-Fi name and pw I enter in the imager need to be my local Wi-Fi?

Yes, it needs to be you local WiFi.

I wish I could say that this solved the problem, but after typing in my local network, when I go to moode.local, the browser doesn't load the moode interface.

I'll try again, but unsure what would be any different.

EDIT: Re-burned SD card. Still no success.

EDIT: Just came up--took a while.
