9.2.1 Intro pop up keeps appearing - PJVervoorn - 01-02-2025
As the title says.
It happens even after a reboot and from a different browser.

Hi,
i have the same problem - and furthermore - i can't click it away on the local display, because the "X" is out of the display.
btw:
1. WHY MUST there be such an - for me as a longtime user of moodeplayer - useless info popup on a loal display ?
2. Why is there no checkbox to disable those popup infos in genral or on local displays ?
3. Why don't you put this "maybe for some new users useful" info's on the "configuration" page, where user can decide by there own if they are interestet in reading this infos ?

It's difficult on my iPad to control it the first time.
It would great if there can be made a setting to turn it of.

Couple things:
- Based on the number of posts that have been made over the years that refer to the release announcement, setup guide or quick help to answer a question or solve an issue its clear that "reading the manual" is not happening. Of course thats just human nature.
- Most apps or OS's display Welcome or Info screens at first-use or after an update. I think most people are totally used to this and prolly find it beneficial to know whats changed or improved but of course some will find it annoying.
As far as moode goes, I can certainly make some improvements to the Welcome screen.
1. Fix the clipping at the top for mobile landscape and ultra wide screens.
2. Make its control flag separate from the flags used for the Cover and Playbar coupons. This would result in only the Welcome screen being displayed after an in-place update instead of how it currently works where the Cover and Playbar coupons are also redisplayed.
3. I can investigate having the Welcome screen be optional for in-place updates but I'm not convinced thats a good idea because it contains important information that will then be completely missed.

I see - you're rigth... the human nature of not reading before asking - well, this is truely a big point for your info-box / announcements - you're totally right.So - maybe you can change the behaviour of this popup - e.g. klick / tap on the popup it self to close the popup instead using the "X" to close. So there won't be any problems with resolution and / or orientation.

Its actually easier to modify the CSS so the whole popup shows on wide screens rather than alter the way its closed :-)

It keeps popping up regardless whenever I go back to my home screen on one of my moode instances, but not the other. Even after dismissing the nag screens which are shown.
Ah, found it - another popup when I went to play view.
The way it is done is not at all intuitive, sorry. If a particular popup is dismissed, it shouldn't show again. Moode seems to want us to dismiss ALL popups all over the place, and if we haven't, it repeatedly shows them all. Annoying.

I agree. I've already committed the improvement. Basically the Welcome notification has a separate show/hide flag, a dedicated close button and the clipping and width is fixed for landscape and ultra wide modes.
What the separate flag means is that after an in-place update only the Welcome notification will appear and not the other first-use help coupons.
If you have multiple instances of a given moode player open in Browsers then closing it on one and Menu > Refresh on the others should be all thats needed. For locally attached screens you can also do Restart from the Peripheral config screen.

Is there a way to disable this popup on 9.2.1, while waiting for 9.2.2?
