Home icon on main screen - dcoffey - 01-28-2025

Can the location to which this icon points to be changed?   I'd like it to point directly to the contents of the share on my NAS.   This would save a few clicks when pulling up music.

There is a "Home" icon on the header bar for the Configuration screens. Is this what you are referring to?

Nope... I believe he means the home icon of the folder-view

I always step in at this point... ;-)
Is there anything annoying for so many users not browsing the library by artist/album, preferring instead the folder mode...?
I guess your nas folder structure is organized more or less like: artist => album => tracks...
The TAG view offers the very same browsing experience... and shows your entire library.

RE: Home icon on main screen - dcoffey - 01-29-2025

Yes my library is by artists->album->tracks. TAG view is only as good as the metadata associated with the contents of the library. All mine were ripped from CDs with the metadata pulled from the various online sources, which are suspect. For example for genre "Prog Rock" lists only Yes, Ambrosia and Michael Quatro. Unknown lists 3/4 of my library. I know this is not the fault of Moode. However! There is the ribbon of albums on the far right. Time for some retraining.

Thanks This can be flagged as solved.

A good solid hit on the head of the nail there. Just add to that the concept that your folder structure is also metadata and you'll soon find tag and album views to be your friend (instead of the artist folder, you can use the artist tag).
Observation one: The genre column can be hidden (see preferences) and unless/until you have your genre tags sorted out you can hide it and get the space back for useful information.
Observation two: If your Artist/Album tags are out of whack, there are a multitude of software that can sort that for you. MusicBrainz Picard has a "folders to tags" option, and there are others (such as bliss) that can do all sorts of tagging automagically based on rules you define.
Observation three: Don't tackle all your tags at once. Concentrate on Artist/Album first, including how you want to handle multi artist albums (because you can be cleverer with tags than with folders in this case).

Thanks for Observation One.   That screen is much less cluttered.  Two and Three are noed.  I am familair with MusicBrainz Picard, never grew comfortable using it, though.

I urge you to have a play with tags, they are much more powerful a way to apply metadata than folders are.  With moOde, as long as you have the Artist/Album tags working for you, you have all sorts of nice options for organising, categorising, and searching your music.
