AirPlay glitches when CamillaDSP is on - Tim Curtis - 02-20-2025
Just an FYI on an issue thats been around for a while. It may not occur in every environment but when CamillaDSP is in the audio chain there can be a large number of audio glitches (drop outs) and associated sync errors in the shairport-sync log.
In contrast the following configs eliminate the sync errors and glitches:
- CamillaDSP turned off
- Leave CamillaDSP on but use Bluetooth instead of Airplay
- Set disable_synchronization to "yes" in shairport-sync.conf
In the meantime while the issue is being investigated I've gone ahead and added a "Disable sync" option to AirPlay Config. In testing I'm still able to get to-the-ear sync even with disable_synchronization set to "yes" on one of the AirPlay receivers running Camilla. This is prolly because all the receivers are with about a millisecond network latency of one another.
