Problem: 8.1 upgrade failure
#1
8.0.2 to 8.1 took over an hr, had accessibility issues on a known good network for another hr,  When i did come up access to usb was up and down (mostly down) access to config is unstable and it shows no upgrade to 8.1.1
I know how to fix this, 8 of my last 10 upgrades have led to complete reloads even with very generic configs, The problem is 8.1 or 8.1.1 are not listed for download on the front page (8.0.2 is last)

Can we get some access to the full builds?

8.1.1 is available for download at https://moodeaudio.org/ if you click Download. You will see two versions listed.

Either I had 3 browsers issues on different machines (which ive not had before), someone just changed it or there were DNS issues but whatever its up on the front page now.

Can anyone speak to their upgrade success rate?

Mine was 100% up until the Spotify issue on 8.1, and that wasn't an upgrade failure but a bug in the upgraded player (since fixed).

Since I don't see anyone else raising this as an issue it must be me. I suspect my crappy high latency satellite internet connection. Downloads often fail or complete but are corrupt. 8.1.0 never worked correctly but after a few reboots it showed the 8.1.1 update and now 8.1.1 seems to be working.

100% here too on 3 different Pis 8.02 to 8.1, and then 100% on each 8.1 to 8.11.  I don't use Spotify, but did have the usual need to clear browser cache to get the upgrade to 8.11 to show as available.  Also no problem installing 64 bit 8.11 on pi 3b.

I had a problem.  I didn't see anything relevant in any logs. I left it quite a while (I've succeeded to perform in-place upgrades in the past).  I ended up installing a fresh 8.1.1 and then discovering the restore from my 8.0.2 backup didn't work (no errors, just didn't restore anything).   A little annoying but I have very little config so it's not a massive pain reconfiguring it by hand.  Fortunately my camilladsp configs are backed up separately.

I have a successrate of 0% on 2 Pi's (one 3b and a 4) after attempting to update to 8.1.0 and 8.1.1 in one go.
I can play from the library (NAS) but not much else is working (no spotify, Configure/System menu not accessible). Seems to hang at the Airplay renderer. Both Pi's show the exact same output. Reinstall may fix the issue but I dont like to rebuild the DLNA database which takes forever.

That log looks like an 8.1.0 image with the Spotify renderer issue showing.  Have a look at the thread for that issue and apply the code that turns off the Spotify renderer, then clear your browser cache and try again, I expect you'll find you are still on 8.1.0 but that it now responds properly.  Then you'll be able to upgrade to 8.1.1 and then turn Spotify back on.

Thanks! That helped a lot, so I am at 100% upgrade success now. regards Martin
