Unless you have already bought that very expensive usb receiver, there is another solution that will cost you only 2$. Have a look at this thread.

Thanks Remy, I have been following that thread but was interested to see if a usb ir controller could be made to work with Moode/mpd.

There's no technical reason it couldn't. Indeed, did you try "flirc mpd" in your favorite search engine? It looks like folks have been connecting the two for the past 4 years.

Has anyone done it specifically with moOde? Looks like not yet. When you get it working, be sure to post a HowTo.
