Yes, what @DRONE7 says.
You should see 'SMSL USB AUDIO' appear as one of the output devices in the MPD Audio settings.

Yes, I have.

But, it's certainly possible I could have damaged the input port by accidentally plugging in the power supply to it; if that is possible. So, now I wait for the new DAC and power supply.
You shouldn't have any issues plugging a psu into the input as it's input/power anyway. The only reason there's a separate power input is it the device you're plugged into can't supply enough juice to the DAC.
You could try enabling 'USB UCA2 fix' to get a little extra power into your DAC.
I've got an SMSL Sanskritt 10th II and had no issues at all get to g it to work on a Pi3.

I am using the latest version Moode.
I have just connected the SMSL Sanskrit 10th II to my rpi3, but I can't get any sound out of it.
I have ensured that in the audio configuration both named device and DT overlay are set to none.
The DAC is connected via input 1 to the rpi
The DAC is connected via rca to the amp
The DAC displays 'd - 8'
I can't get a sound out of it.
I have restarted the rpi several tries but I am obviously missing something very basic.
For a sanity check, where should I look or do?
Your wisdom and advice is greatly appreciated.

- Menu, Configure, MPD settings
- Set "Output device" to your DAC (it should appear in the list
- SAVE

I did see that, save it and then restarted the rpi for good measure.

My apologies for not being able to see the obvious. And, yes, I can control the DAC with the remote,even though I can't recall actually pressing the 'C' button as the very first button, it responds to all commands. Unless... that really is the culprit. If so, is there a simple 'reset' for the DAC?

I can see that ALSA volume for the SMSL USB AUDIO is set to 0%, I don't know where to increase the volume.

Log indicates image has been modified. moOde 721 is based on RaspiOS 10.6 and kernel 5.4.77

As they say in the Futurama classics "Good news everyone!". I reimaged with 7.1, - Menu, Configure, MPD settings
- Set "Output device" to the 'SMSL USB AUDIO,DSD support set to: Native DSD, Volume mixer type to 'software', no SoX resampling, then press 'SAVE'
For my setup I set the volume to '80' and the remote control volume to '-14'. My amp's volume is set to 10'oclock.
It all sounds great now.

Good to hear. Why software volume rather than hardware though?
